Rating: Summary: Once again worth the wait Review: I liked Phoenix much better than Goblet of Fire. It's very rich, with excitement and unexpected developments coming almost non-stop. One intriguing aspect is that a lot of the pending questions from past books are answered here, so it could be a challenge for J.K. Rowling to keep the same level of suspense in book #6. But who cares, book 5 is here now and is big fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing.. Review: I am amazed that I am the first to review this book - a full THREE days after the book release. I would have expected some 1000 odd reviews by now !!In any case, I do not intend to spoil the book for any one who has not read it. The book carries on from where "Goblet of Fire" left off. The Ministry officials continue to delude themselves and the people in the belief that Voldermort's return is a myth and to establish it, try all means to discredit Dumbledore and Harry Potter in every way. Apart from the battle against the Dark Lord, Harry would also need to worry about getting past his O.W.Ls with sufficiently high grades to pursue his designs of becoming an Auror. Dumbledore prepares to raise the wizarding community in the battle against the Dark Lord.. Opinions. Well, the book is fast and is a definite page-turner. This was perhaps deliberate, but I certainly missed the fun element which was abundant in the previous books. Those sharp and witty one-liners and anecdotes are very, very few. Even the Fred and George antics appear rather forced. Only Ron continues to bring in the smiles now and then !! Harry is thoroughly different - temperamental and consistently short-tempered. Maybe its more realistic, but well, it again appears rather forced. Most of the time, his lines are in CAPS !! Even the mystery is nowhere as gripping as the previos books. I am sure the Potter devotees would lap it up - but well, as one of those who have eagerly anticipated this one and advance booked it too, it came as a let-down.
Rating: Summary: Worth it Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was well worth the wait.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the wait! Review: JK Rowlings did a superb job on this newest Harry Potter book. It was well worth the wait! I don't think I can wait another 3 years for the 6th installment of the series though! Harry, Ron, and Hermonione, once again, manage to thwart The One Who Must Not Be Named... with the help of a few fellow Hogwarts students.. and at a great loss.
Rating: Summary: JKR at her absolute best!! Review: Well boys and girls, the moment is finally here. Potter and company are back with a vengence, and I must say, this one is not to be missed. This is the big one, where all the cards are layed out, and the the only think left to know is, who will survive the coming war. Honestly, the quality of this book is superb. We are introduced to new characters (I think my favorites are Tonks and Kreacher), and the new DADA teacher is a sight to be seen...or read I guess. Also, old characters are filled out, and we get to see them in action. Unlike the other Potter books, this one starts out with big excitement, and keeps on rolling right till the end. You definitely won't want to put it down! From open to close, this book has excitement around every corner. I will only say two other things about this book. Things are not always as they seem, and be prepared for a few tears to fall, as the rumored death isn't going to be easy to digest for some. Other than that, just know that this book is a summer must.
Rating: Summary: An Absolutely Thrilling Page-Turner Review: I read this book in three days, and that was by spacing it out. I looked forward to the release of the book more than my high school graduation, and after reading the book I was not disappointed. I enjoyed every inch of this book. I felt as though there were not as many plot twists as there were in past books, and Rowling relied too heavily on dreams, but other than that I really enjoyed reading this book. My little brother is reading it next and I am egging my parents to read this book. So often I am disappointed by cultural phenomenon, Order of Phoenix is the exception. Everybody should read the Harry Potter series. I anticipate that this series of books will become the next Narnia.
Rating: Summary: Potter Rocks Review: I have read this book twice now. It is awesome. I think everyone should have it. In case people haven't read it, i wont give it away. This book is a must have.
Rating: Summary: The best, but darkest! Review: This book was absolutely great! All the characters were as developed as the others, and many of the new things in this book will knock you out of your seat, or, wack yourself on the head saying "Oh YEAH! Why didnt I notice that before?" Harry finds himself in trouble, more often than not, but with his friends and his newfound "illegal"(meaning Umbridge) club he manages to pull through with a smile on at least half of the time(LOL!). Dumbledore is sometimes infuriating, but yet again, his great side always sghows through in the end. Cho is a more minor role in this book, and Neville is definately a bigger character in this book than could ever imagined. Harry is definately more rebellious, and more and more strange things are happening in and around him and Hogwarts. A TRULY wonderful, amazing book! Deffinately(Doesnt everone love my spelling?) a worthwhile book to spend the twenty bucks on! GO ROWLING!!
Rating: Summary: great continuation of the series Review: Another great read. i promised myself i wouldn't stay up past 2 for this one like i did for the last couple, but there i was rushing through the last chapter at 3 in the morning. What I love about these books isn't that it's great literature or has insights into the human condition. What I love is disappearing into J.K Rowlings world, a wild ride from beginning to end. And unlike a trip to the Luna Park rollercoaster, I always feel better at the end than I did at the start. Coooool.
Rating: Summary: A Great Long Book Review: I finished this book this afternoon and I would like to say it was a very enjoyable book. There are sections of it that are extremely long and can be skimmed , but many new aspects to the Harry Potter series are brought out. A reader can see changes in many of the important characters and a more interesting storyline. The only problem (besides length): J.K. Rowling killed off one of my favorite characters. Overall, this was a good book and I highly recommend reading it if you have seven hours of free time. Rowling out did herself. Again.
