Rating: Summary: Effectiveness is your desire to improve your ... you choose Review: GET THE BOOK and learn!!!! Having read the book, listened to the tapes and attend the 3 day workshop I offer the experience of starting with suspicion and finding I was incorrect. Get the book and read it completely before you make a judgement. Do the exercises Covey suggests and then review the material. If you want effectiveness you have to work at it. Go for it.
Rating: Summary: double wow! Review: I'm only on page 84, but I've stopped for now. Too much food for thought! I found it difficult to read at first, but now it's difficult to put it down. My only question: how does a simple person like me progress to the stage where I will be known and recognised as one of those 'highly effective people'? Just wondering...
Rating: Summary: whatever Review: I thought this book would help me focus; i discovered page after page of buzzwords that ineffectual colleagues have been throwing around for years. The stuff that is good is tarted-up common sense, nothing more; the rest is filler and/or boring exercises. I found the book to be written in a very patronizing fashion in addition to being downright dull.
Rating: Summary: For all the disappointed souls !! Review: After reading this book and then the reviews, I have summarized all your disappointments. The gripe I keep hearing is that "Covey's" book is so basic !! Undoubtedly it is pretty obvious, but that is exactly what he was trying to do, point out the obvious!! Many of us seem to look for a "quick fix" but if your life was that simple you wouldn't need a book!! One thing Covey stresses throughout the book is that, There is no "quick fix" to life, just common principles that bind some of the most successful people together. That is what separates the haves and the have nots!!
Rating: Summary: Your mother couldn't tell you this... Review: ...because you wouldn't listen to her. This book made me see it myself. And I have never felt so exited in my life before, because I feel for the first time, that I can lay behind me my selfcenteredness. This book is so extremely perfect for christian people, who wants to really follow the Holy Bibles teaching. I read it in that perspective. Please read this book. You can't possibly regret it! ... ;-) - and God bless you...
Rating: Summary: Private Victory is Good. Review: The book is divided into two major sections. Private Victory and Public Victory. I have read the Private Victory section so far, and I believe that Stephen Covey is great at managing his personal life to get personal fulfillment. His lessons have changed my life. His words near the end of the chapter about delegation, however, seemed to lack the scientific analysis that other management specialists have decried. So far, it's a 5 stars. If the next section is as good as the first, well, I'd give it 10 stars. But I'm looking forward with caution.
Rating: Summary: A Work that makes you think Review: I find 7 Habits to be a valuable tool for self-exploration, and highly recommend it to friends and family. The book may not be for everyone, but alot of people believe it has been beneficial to them. I am disappointed to see such virulent reviews against the book and Covey himself. It's almost as if those who gave a 1-star rating to the book have developed a personal hatred for it and must lash out. It's amazing!! It's ok if you don't like the book, or don't feel it was worth your time. But perhaps explaining why you didn't like it would be more constructive than calling Covey a con man, that's it's mush/dribble etc etc. I think potential buyers would be more interested reasons for not liking it than in the name calling or other angry remarks.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING... Review: If you are thinking about changing your life, to make it worth it, to have a meaning in your life, and follow it to the point, that when you die, you will have a meaning to it too!!! Then you must read this book, but if you are thinking on buying this book because you like this critic. Then don't buy it, because what it did to me, buy it of what will do to YOU!! DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE? DO YOU WANT A REALIZATION AND MEANING IN YOUR LIFE? The answer is yours, this book is your guide!! Luis Diego Araya
Rating: Summary: I am ready to ascend past my mediocre present self. Review: While this book does nothing to change my life, it provides me with the vehicle to do it myself. I scorn those who have no use for this book. Where are you now? Where would you be able to take yourself if you could take the advice in "The 7 Habits?" Listen not to those who choose to fall victim to circumstance and use the information that Covey offers.
Rating: Summary: This book is totally USELESS............. Review: Like I said in the title, this books really SUCKS. Stephen Covey hadn't helped me at all with the thousand page boredom with everyday common sense in it. When I first saw this book, I thought it was very helpful since so many people bought or recommended this book, but when I began to read it, I thought all of it was totally rubbish and nonsense with absolutely no help for me. All it talked about was beliefs, and it was meant to be something to change you're habits. If you're planning to buy this book, DON'T, as you will regret it. Instead, I would rather recommend "7 Habits for Highly Effective TEENS" for teenagers.
