Summary: Thought Provoking
Review: While not a book "to make you believe in God," as is claimed in the text, it will make you think . . . and leave you wondering about the nature of truth, and the criteria you use to evaluate truth-claims. Definitely worth reading, and keeping on your shelf for later browsing.

Summary: A rare read
Review: I'm not sure if I have ever recommended a book to so many people. I found the story simply amazing. And with a biology degree, I neared the end of the book nearly convinced this must have been taken from a historic event. Wow.

Summary: Warning: This book shoud be rated R
Review: I found the book interesing and engaging and even funny at times. However, it is not a book that should be read by anyone under the age of 17. I found the descriptions of canibalism and murder unsettling. It was a bit too bloody at times for my taste. Although this book may seem like a book that could be read by teenagers, I feel that parents and educators should be aware of the contents.

Summary: Promises more than it delivers
Review: What a marvelous start... but it seems that this novel promises more than it delivers towards the end of the book. However, after the opening which promises to "make us believe in God", the very central part of the book seems to be bursting with unecessary details and develops way too slowly - perhaps this is done purposely, but it does lack rhythm. The story wouldn't make me believe in God, but Martel's Pi is indeed a very charming character, and the novel is intelligently concepted.

Summary: A boy, A boat, A Bengal Tiger
Review: I read voraciously and have never had the urge to post a review here on Amazon. Just not something I do. But I have already told all my friends about this book and still feel the need to let some more people in on it. This book is magic! It is a wonderfully imaginative fable that is by turns comedic, tragic, thrilling and spiritual. One of my favorite books. Please read it, you won't regret it.

Summary: A Great Ad enture Tale
Review: I loved this book. The tale of how Pi survives his ordeal at sea (and his living arrangements with the tiger) is completly engrossing. Martel's prose is excellent and flows seamlisley. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of Pi's religous beliefs wuithin various passages throughout the book. It's definitley a read that could soon be considered a classic!

Summary: Pi is the Guy!
Review: This is an excellent tale of a young man's adventure. It hits the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the events that take place. I would recommend this book to anyone from teen to mature adult. The author has a unique style of writing and engages you and makes you feel part of the tale.

Buy this! Borrow it! But definitely read this amazing book!

Summary: Life of Pi
Review: This was an absolutely awful book. I fail to see what all the hoopla is about. It struck me as both shallow and poorly written.

Summary: Read This Book
Review: It has been a long time since I've actually read a book that stuck with me so long after I was finished. It was beautifully written with so much passion pouring out of every page. I couldn't put it down for 5 minutes without having to pick it back up again to divulge myself into the life of Pi. I highly recommend this book to anyone who can open their mind to a world that some of us could never even dream of, yet becomes so real that you can see it with your own eyes.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not too good
Review: I really had to force myself to finish this book for my book club. There were glimmers of brilliance, but overall I do not feel that those were plentiful enough to make up for the rest of the book. It was sometimes gory, sometimes boring...not a good read.

I would not recommend this book - and I don't say that about too many books! Try something else. I think you will be happier.
