Rating: Summary: Crisp, Concise, Conservative Commentary Review: This obvious politically-charged book, with "Winning the War of Liberty Over Liberalism" as a sub-title, incites powerful emotions and provokes serious thought about many issues of personal and national interest. Starting with the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks (Hannity's radio show began on Sept. 10, 2001), Hannity related how liberal thinking helped make those attacks more likely and how that same liberal thought process undermines traditional American values and threatens our basic freedoms and liberty. In detailed discussions about issues like taxes, welfare, defense, families, religion, abortion, character, leadership, education, intelligence, immigration, the media, patriotism, the environment, and civil liberties, Hannity was very clear in his opinions of what is right and what is wrong. Hannity wrote with the same candid passion and conservative perspective that have made him one of the country's most popular radio and television political commentators. The book was well-written and well-documented. Whether or not you agree with Hannity's beliefs or style, this book will provide a great snapshot of the American political differences between liberals and conservatives in the early 21st century. What you get out of this book should not surprise you if you know for what it is you are looking. If you are a conservative, this book will entertain you and reinforce many (if not all) of your values and beliefs. If you are a liberal, this book will probably upset you, but it will give you tremendous insight into the heart and soul of conservative political thinking. If you are undecided, this book makes a very compelling case for rejecting liberalism and embracing conservatism. Regardless of your political preferences, this book is worth reading and discussing.
Rating: Summary: Simply awesome! Review: This book is just plain awesome! Hannity proudly displays his conservatism and defends America with every well written word. Regardless of what the liberals think about it, this book is great. And I'm going to buy others like it: Deliver Us From Evil, Treason, Dittohead Guide To Adult Beverages, etc. I'm sick of the liberals trashing good conservative books. 'Let Freedom Ring' is a classic conservative commentary and helps preserve Hannity's place among the successful conservative commentators in America. Five stars all the way!
Rating: Summary: Liberty & Liberalism not at odds with each other. Review: Hannity fosters an either or scenario that is too simplistic. He misses the point of what true democracy is. Like other talk radio / TV pundits, he tries to limit the scope of the debate, by trying to discredit those with opposing opinions. He forgets that people with liberal opinions are patriotic Americans, too. They just disagree. Stick to the facts, make your best case, but drop the intolerance.
Rating: Summary: A Fair and Balanced Review Review: People should indeed read this book. Note that I said READ this book. I did not say anything about buying the book and wasting your money. Take it out of your public library, or perhaps borrow it from a gullible friend. I spent much of the last month reading both sides of what appears much like a court battle. Now in court, the prosecution goes first, and the defense follows, so the books I read and the order of reading were: (1) Slander ..., by Ann Coulter (2) Treason ..., by Ann Coulter (3) Let Freedom Ring ..., by Sean Hannity (4) Big Lies ..., by Joe Conason (5) The Hunting of the President ..., by Conason and Lyons (6) Blinded by the Right ..., by David Brock Anyone who can take this little six-book journey and come away impressed by the likes of Coulter and Hannity has got to have a screw loose, in my humble opinion. Their so-called research doesn't hold up under the slightest scrutiny, and there are almost no primary sources listed in the "academic looking" end notes. This journey shows a person how "push-polling" works to slander a political opponent, how to lie with quarter-truths and innuendo effectively, and how to manipulate single-issue voters like the Religious Right with an anti-abortion stance, all the while selling those voter's children into effective slavery with Wal-Mart level jobs. To paraphrase a man from 50 years ago: "Have you no sense of decency, Hannity, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?" And indeed they don't. The only real question is how long we will allow ourselves to be distracted by this power-hungry side-show of neo-con partisans masquerading as journalists and investigators. How many Enrons and Jimmy Swaggerts does it take before we all see that the neo-cons have no clothes, just juicy book deals and radio shows designed to help loot the nation without us noticing. Maybe 30 years from now they will be willing to use their skills to relate "The Fall of the American Empire" to which they will have contributed so much.
Rating: Summary: the skeptic times reviewer Review: Honestly: conservatives will love this book, and liberals will not like it. There is no doubt a right wing slant, which is definitely expected from a conservative talk show host. This book is more about what conservatives views on things are, and although some may not like the book because they disagree, I do feel that Hannity does touch basis with what conseratives believe in. Many of my liberal friends as well say that Hannity is accurate in describing the conservative part line. His sources, as with all books, I checked and appear to be geniune. Very reliable information about the conservative party line. Your enjoyment of this book will definitely be directly proportional to which way you slant: right or left. The farther right, the more enjoyment you will get.
Rating: Summary: The problem with this book is the same problem as MOST books Review: When a conservative writes a book, its almost ALWAYS TOO right winged. When a liberal writes a book, its almost ALWAYS TOO left winged. America could get much more out of reading a book that expressed one view, but didn't tell half-truths and leave vital information out.
Rating: Summary: Sean Hannity gets it Review: Yeah, that's right, it IS the left-wingers!! I know this, and so does Sean Hannity. The moral decline in our society coincides with this country's determination to rid our culture of Christianity-coincidence? I think not. Sean Hannity's thoughts and ideas are not radical, they make total sense. To listen to the liberals, you would think that Christianity is the worst, most harmful belief system ever to exist. This is obviously not the case; obviously it is far from it. What Hannity has to say makes complete sense. He is a talented writer and communicator (via his books as well as his radio show) and as a conservative, I'm proud to have him on my side, and proud to have him speaking for all of us. I look forward to reading Deliver Us From Evil. Keep up the good work, Sean!
Rating: Summary: Sean is a great American Review: After his great success with Deliver Us From Evil, I decided to drop back and review this book. A caller told Sean on his radio show the other day that he is a Great American. And Sean told the caller that he is a Great American. And we all know what a Great American George W. Bush is. I never realized until reading this and Sean's other book just how many terrorists there are in this world, they along with liberals are everywhere. Terrorists, evildoers, and liberals hate America, are jealous of our freedoms and Sean's lifestyle and SUV, and want to bring us down. So they can go up. Conservatives like Sean are on the side of right and good. I understand that our Great President speaks to God nearly everyday, and that God told him to go to war in Iraq and rid the world of terrorists, evildoers and liberals. As Sean so eloquently puts it, we will win. And that is the truth.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This is an excellent book focused on the challenges of fighting terrorism, posed to Americans following 9/11. You will not be disappointed in this easy to read, food-for-thought book.
Rating: Summary: How can anyone take this kind of book seriously? Review: I usually don't waste my money on books like this, but I guess I was just possessed when I bought it. Thank heavens I waited until it came out in paperback. Regardless of political affiliation, talking heads like Sean Hannity, especially when trying to defend the indefensible, tend to be very selective when picking facts, so they can bend them to meet their own ends. This is all well and good, except for when people on the other side of the political fence start deconstructing what they write and exposing the holes within. The fact that I don't agree with Sean Hannity's opinions just makes me notice it more easily with right-wing manifestos. I would recommend this book to anyone to read, as long as he or she would also read an equally fiery liberal book from someone like Molly Ivins or Michael Moore.
