Rating: Summary: The Automatic Millionaire Review: I picked up this book after his guest appearance on the Oprah show. It has literally changed my life. I read the entire book in one sitting, making many mental notes along the way. Just like he says, in about an hour I had my entire financial life automated. I've since opened a Roth IRA, a money market (rainy day) account, and a supplemental investment account to save for a house downpayment. My bills are all now all automated, so I will never again pay a late fee.Since I bought this book two weeks ago, I have purchased Smart Women Finish Rich, Smart Couples Finish Rich, and the Finish Rich Workbook, and highly recommend those books as well. I am now purchasing his books for my family and friends in the hopes that they, too, will begin to implement these strategies to ensure their financial security. This book was easy to understand and gives you the strategies you need to start changing your life TODAY! I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Good, Brief and Powerful Review: While this book is not huge, it does contain a lot of good information that can make a substantial difference in your financial life. A little too much credit card debt? Want to get that mortgage paid off sooner? Spending your income on your lifestyle? Want and need to change? Need to increase cash flow? Getting a tax refund this year? Then read Dave Bach and get on the fast track to financial success. His advice has worked for me and many others. And itr will work for you too.
Rating: Summary: Why a best seller? Because it works Review: Dave Bach has written an excellent book on how to get your financial house in order. I am continually amused that some folks think that a book has to be big and highly detailed to be good. Ask anyone who has bought one of those huge 1,000 page tomes how their finances are doing or how much those books have helped them. I think the reason this book is so popular is because it is so brief but at the same time jammed with powerful information. It is not just Bach's opinion either, it is based on what has worked and still works. I highly recommend The Automatic Millionaire as a excellent book to reduce debt and accumulate wealth. If you want a more detailed book than check out The Truth About Money 3rd edition by Ric Edelman. This is a 600+ page book on personal finance that is actually fun to read as well as very informative and based on facts, not opinion just like DAve Bach's book.
Rating: Summary: So simple that it looks too simple Review: To many people, The Automatic Millonaire looks too simple to be believable. Nothing could be that simple right?Yes and No. It is simple. EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND EASY TO DO, BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE DO IT?Save 10% of what you make. Use biweekly mortgages. Make extra principal payments. Make extra payments on your credit cards. Is it really this simple? Absolutely.I am now giving this book away as an accessary gift at weddings and birthdays. Automatic Millionaire is also an easy read.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring & encouraging - in a finance book no less! Review: If you haven't done much thinking in terms of financial planning or money management, then this is the book for you. It will not scare you or bore you. It will motivate the daylights out you - you will be encouraged and excited about what you can do to secure your own future. David Bach has true gift for simplifying retirement planning and inspiring you in the process. If you have done money management, you will still like this book. It is enormously gratifying to see you're on the right track and it will motivate you to keep doing well and maybe even do better. I think this is a PERFECT gift for any young person or couple, or anyone who doesn't know alot about financial planning. It will encourage them to take a few simple steps that will have enormous payoff. Another review said that this book has nothing new, it just repeats the concepts in Bach's other books. I would disagree. The essential elements are the same, but Bach has put them together in such a way that it is very fresh. I'm so glad I bought it and actually found myself inspired anew!
Rating: Summary: Yes, it is simple and Yes, it does work. Review: Maybe there are some concepts in here you already know. Maybe it would seem to some a no brainer. But no one, including other negative reviewers, can lay out this simple ingenious plan to make it this understandable. You see, simplicity is the point. This book takes the obvious for some and the not so obvious for others and puts a little fire under your tail to get you motivated to do something about it. A little encouragement that you can do it. One of the reviewers who was very negative about the simplicity and the fact you cant just get rid of debt is obviously missing something besides a positive outlook on life. It is called personal responsibility. Therefore, my suggestion is to be responsible with your life, get this book and get on with it. Retire early. Dont slam this author because of your own shortcomings! I could do a lot more in life if the instructions were laid out for me. Unfortunately life is not always like this. However, this book is an exception to that. What is written in this book is true and it works.
Rating: Summary: Best Money book ever ! Review: This was a quick and sensible book on how to manage your money, of any amount. These simple steps are perfect at any age or time of your life. My husband was so excited about the easy steps that made such sense that the next day we called and made our lifes automatic. Now we won't think about becoming millionairs until we are! Thank you David Bach for putting these easy principles into a easy read book that we could read in just a couple hours. The best invested time to become money smart.
Rating: Summary: YOU can make David Bach a millionaire... Review: Yes, buy this book and you can make David Bach rich! Unfortunately, it will do little for you. David, tell us something we don't know! "Pay yourself first." (wow, that is revolutionary!) "Reduce your debt." (not too easy if you are livning paycheck to paycheck) "Contribute to your 401K" (If you aren't already, you're in trouble...) Here we have a restatement of the obvious, for those people who have not paid attention for a decade. Amazing. Don't waste your money. (I did it so you don't have to...)
Rating: Summary: You Too Can Write a Business Book Review: I want the name of this guy's publicist; he's a genius! I thought a few clever ideas turned on their head a bit might make for some interesting reading. However by the time I got to the end of this three hour talk show circuit manifesto I found nothing more than a paragraph of obvious sound advice. If you've heard Mr. Bach on any of his 7 minute media appearances then you've already learned about 80% of what this book contains. The advice, although sound, is a repetition of the top 5 list of best ways to grow your nest egg. Save the small dollars, invest those savings, stay out of debt, buy a house, and make sure you do this all in the form of some kind of automatic payroll deduction to eliminate the temptation to spend it first. I'd go on, but that's all there is! I'm continually amazed by the crop of wafer thin business and personal finance books on the best seller shelves that regurgitate the same old tired pabulum. This book is rich if not for anything else but self promotion. Oh, and please remember to order the 8 extraordinary audio sessions from the back of the book.
Rating: Summary: A Good Place to Start Review: I'll say this first: If you are one of the millions of Americans who have no savings whatsoever, then buy this book! As the himself author points out, this is not a get-rich-quick scheme or a buy-a-house-with-no-money-down manual. Instead, "The Automatic Millionaire" lays out a fairly simple and painless plan for achieving financial independence when you reach retirement age. If you are already putting 10% of your income into your 401(k), have a safety net in the form of a money market account, and are free of credit card debt, this isn't the book for you. As I did, you'll find the advice merely confirms what you've already learned (elsewhere) about "paying yourself first." However, if you have friends (or adult children) who tell you they can't afford to save, give them this book and you'll be giving them more than the gift of a quick read.
