Rating: Summary: Woman who does it all very well Review: The book is the story of the life of a woman who really did do it all and is doing it well. I loved her midwestern roots, school in the east, travel after causes, going to Arkansas and on to the White House and still going. It is well written and very easy to follow. There is nothing dull about this woman. The stories are great and so are the pictures. I am seriously wondering if the people screaming lies read the book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This is a must buy...Hillary offers great insight into her personal and private life. One of the most powerful women in politics! This is definitely a book to read and read again.
Rating: Summary: Should be In FICTION section Review: This is a pathetically spun jumble of words with no substance. Many statements are contradictary or false (there are many references to prove this fact). From Hillary's "surprise" about Bill's infidelity to her thoughts on health care; this book is one waste of time.AS Ann Coulter summed it up in a recent article about Hillary: "I could hardly breathe. Gulping for air, I started crying and yelling, "What do you mean? What are you saying? Why are the Clintons back again?"
Rating: Summary: Living History. Review: I just want to say those who appreciate Senator Clinton as a strong and formidable politicion will love this book. It really does capture the essence of a remarkable woman. The people who hate her(probably because she is a strong and formidable woman) won't read her book anyway, and that is too bad for they will miss a chance to know and understand her better.
Rating: Summary: The Rewriting of History Lived Review: What can I say except, typical Clintonian non-sense. David Brinkley said it best, "a bore". Save your money, buy your prescription drugs with the money you save.
Rating: Summary: Well written Review: .... The book is a good read. Mrs Clinton writes about her childhood, upbringing and life experiences that shaped her views. She also goes over all the pseudo scandals of the Clinton years, beginning with Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate etc. and reminds us that the most massive witchunt since Salem conducted by a right wing zealot prosecutor produced no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the Clintons. People who have been getting their news from the Corporate Media, owned and operated by republicans may not know that. She goes over the whole Monicagate farce and it is obvious that Mr Starr colluded with the Jones lawyers to set up an entrapment for her husband in an effort to drive him from office. Thankfully this attempted coup d'etat failed. What should have been a private matter for the Clintons was made public for political gain by their enemies. And finally I would like to recommend Clinton Wars by Sidney Blumenthal for anyone buying Living History. Mr Blumenthal goes into more detail exposing various right wing conspirators, people who bankroll them and their handmaidens in the Corporate Media.
Rating: Summary: Great perspective! Review: Good history lesson, and insightful story told from, first the time, Hillary herself. It is a refresing change to hear her versions of events surrouding the eight years in the White House and her perosnal struggles and achievements. One thing is for sure - it is about a LOT more than Bill, Monica and Whitewater. It's about the life of Hillary Clinton - who is an extrodaniary woman and the most influential First Lady this country has ever seen.
Rating: Summary: A Word of Advice Review: If you are really interested in this book, instead of trying to make a decision to buy or borrow this book from a library - or skip it altogether - based on "reader reviews", I suggest you bypass these and just read Jonathan Yardley's review in the June 15th edition of "The Washington Post Book World". He is a respected, professional, highly qualified Pulitzer Prize winning reviewer and gives a lengthy, concise breakdown of the pros and cons of this book. I have read all the reviews posted here and 99% of them are based on emotions rather than what is actually in the book. Johnathan Yardley's review persuaded me not to make the investment - you may come to a different conclusion, but your decision can be based on the merits of the book itself, rather than the emotional reaction to it and Hillary Clinton.
Rating: Summary: An Extraordinary Woman Review: At the height of the 1992 campaign season I had the great pleasure of hearing Hillary Clinton make a stump speech on the QUAD at Rutgers University. Several thousand people fell silent that afternoon, and listened to her intelligent, impassioned speech. Even the ubiquotous GOP sign-bearers were impressed. Her autobiography bears witness to the brillance of this political trailblazer. At turns, witty and insightful; it is nothing less than a political chronicle of the turbulent and exciting Clinton years. Like Senator Clinton, her book is honest, plain spoken and a delight. Hillary 2008, It's about time!!
Rating: Summary: Important Book For History and Students Review: When the conservatives get upset that tells me it is something interesting in a book they are upset about. This one is no exception. I read this book and met the former first lady and I must say I was impressed with both. The book brings the Clinton Whitehouse to life from the first ladies point of view and it is an interesting read. Knowledge and information is always good no matter if you agree or disagree. Always find out for yourself instead of "following the leader" as many close minded, uninformed people. How can anyone give a book a 1 rating if they actually read the book with an open mind? It also seems those raters are all from the same web of hatred and jealousy. Hate is a horrible thing to carry around inside of you. There is no reason to hate people just for political reasons. We all need to grow up and get over it. With Clinton we had 8 years of prosperity and good will. With Bush it is hate, lies, war profiting, and occupation. I do not hate Bush because of his incompetency. I read Ann Colters new book "Treason" and although I do not agree with her comments I do not hate her. Lets get smart my fellow Americans. Enjoy this book.
