Rating: Summary: Wonderful Agreements for Life Review: This is a beautifully written book coming from the sincere and simple yet profound wisdom that will help many people if applied. I found this to be among the few books I have purchased where the solutions for humanity are filled with compassion, inspiration and expansive wisdom as well as compassion.
Rating: Summary: The Four Agreements Review: Yes, the ideas presented in the book may seem "simple" and "obvious," but I think that's the point. Those on the path to self awareness sometimes make things a little more complicated than they are. If you keep these four guidelines close to your heart, all the answers to your questions will come to you when the time is right.
As to those who are reviewing this book so negetively after reading it, I just have one piece of advice: refer to Agreement number 2.
Rating: Summary: Simply Profound Review: Don Miguel Ruiz wrote the Four Agreements based on ancient Toltec Wisdom. However, these simple truths are repeated over and over in every spiritual tradition, from Christianity to Hinduism.
The most exciting thing about this book is its simplicity. In a nutshell, this book is about taking responsibility for how we feel and what we say and do. It is about how our words and thoughts create our realities and that by simply listening to our internal dialogue and noticing when the "judge" is in charge, we can change our lives. Heaven and Hell, Ruiz claims are purely states of perception.
This is simple and deeply profound wisdom that can change your life. Take the time to read, learn and live the Four Agreements.
Rating: Summary: Four Simple Steps.. Review: This is an EXCELLENT book for anyone whose search for some inner peace is still ongoing or for those who just want to clear out the inner clutter.
The Four Agreements are profound in their simplicity and when put into practice make life much easier.
Rating: Summary: Something Everyone Can Agree On Review: This is the second book I read by Toltec Master/Scholar Don Miguel Ruiz having read his Mastery of Love last Summer. In desperate need of trying to repair my own troubled mind and heart, it opened my eyes and I realized that this book is really a solid foundation of personal wisdom ad growth. As I learned over this past Summer a lot of the ideologies and structures we used in daily life are nothing more than falsehoods(dreams) and we can(should) be open to something so much greater than what we currently know. Having also recently opened myself up to The Course of Miracles I see some very strong parallels here with this book as well.
Who can not learn from the knowledge that is being presented here? The Four Agreements are:
1.)Be Impeccable with your Word:
Your words are your sword and also your wand be aware how you use them.
Say "What you mean and mean what you say"
2.)Don't take Anything Personally: One agreement that I am constantly faced with and constantly trying to utilize.
3.) on't Make Assumptions: Another agreement WE could ALL use. (Think what this world would be like if we didn't make assumptions)
4.) Always Do Your Best!
The Prayers are the end of the book are beautiful and inspiring, especially the prayer on love that again proves to me, WE (EVERYONE) are ALL connected on this planet, even if it appears to some as only temporary.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring...... Review: The principles are so beautifully simple yet, so extraordinarily important.
-Be impeccable with you word
-Dont take anything personally
-Dont make assumptions
-Always do your best
The book goes into detail of the importance and value of these agreements, what we may feel keeps us from living these agreements, and how we can apply them in our lives.
This book is about being able to find the control we have over our own thoughts and emotions. I found it very empowering that we can break "old agreements" we have with ourselves and learn and apply these new ones.
I enjoyed the thought provoking wording and imagery in this book. I found the authors perspective very inspiring.
This is a wonderful book that I return to often.
Rating: Summary: Just did not say much to me Review: A friend suggested this book. It did nothing for me at all and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The four things (agreements) mentioned do lead to personal freedom and wisdom I suppose, but so do things like "Never worry" or "Don't be embarrassed". I could make up more things that would be great if we didn't do it, and would lead to being happier. I'll call them agreements and publish them.
Rating: Summary: Did not enjoy this read Review: Personally, I didn't enjoy this book. I didn't like the writing style of the author. He repeated himself A LOT - over and over the same message only written slighly differently. The inside flap has a blurb about the 4 agreements (and they "do" make sense and are things we should incorporate into our lives). However, after reading the flap, I knew all I needed to know about the 4 agreements and didn't need to read the book. It was a waste of time for me.
Rating: Summary: A Loving and Tender Message Review: I would suggest buying two copies -- one for yourself and one to give as a gift for a loved one. The Four Agreements has a classic message with a loving and gentle touch.
Rating: Summary: MIRACLE BOOK Review: A dear friend gave me this book. I had glanced at it numerous times over the past couple of years, yet never bought it, thinking it was probably just "another one of those books". But, it ISN'T your typical "feel good" book. This book explains WHY I have been depressed my entire life. Why my relationships have all failed. WHY I have never been pleased with myself. This book is a definite LIFE SAVER. I have just finished reading it - highlighting it - writing down passages from it. It has already given me courage and strength to make my life the way I have always wanted it to be... full of unconditional love, happiness, health. I have already recommended this book to SEVERAL people. I have thanked my friend profusely for giving me this book.. only 4 days ago!! I am going to buy the cassette so I can listen to it at night as I go to sleep and at work. This is an amazing book for me. I hope it will help EVERYONE as much as it has already helped me.
