Rating: Summary: Impressive none the less........ Review: I find it personally amazing that Maddox has this much influence over the internet. He pretty much single-handedly turned Amazon's review section about O' Reilly's book into a heated message board arguing over whether or not they like Maddox. There's over 300 posts on this thing, and like two of them are about the book. Regardless if you like Maddox or not, you have to admit that's pretty impressive.
Rating: Summary: forming your own opinion is easy and can be fun Review: I would like to begin by saying that while I have watched Mr. O'Reilly on television, I have not read his book. The reason I am writing this review is to contest the overwhelming constituent of people who are writing critiques simply because Maddox wrote a vitriolic post about Bill and The No Spin Zone on his website. Read Maddox's words a little more carefully and it will become plain that he is an advocate of free speech. While I don't agree with O'Reilly's nonsense about the internet being dangerous, please bear in mind that just as Maddox can call Bill a "big, blubbering vagina" (which, while I enjoy Maddox greatly, I will admit is quite juvenile--but of course such terminology does appeal to his rabid following), Bill O'Reilly can say what he wants as well because of that thing called free speech Maddox was talking about. Everyone's got it, and everyone can state their opinion even if they're morons, just like the people who are posting on behalf of Maddox have demonstrated. It's rather hypocritical to use the free speech arguement, I think, because both parties are exercising this right and no one is ever going to get anywhere without building themselves a solid house of contradictions. I'd like to continue along this vein by adding that Maddox is a very humorous and intelligent man, but unfortunatly the people who speak for him are not. In fact, if I may say this out of spite, these people are obviously IDEOLOGUES. For everyone who is looking to write an intelligent review, please do so and ignore these people. The depressing part is, Maddox makes it abundantly clear on his website that these unintelligent people are not welcome to be his fans. In fact, he even has a hate mail section in which he writes responses to people HE hates--i.e., fans writing nigh unreadable (due to spelling and grammar error) emails. To conclude, while I haven't read Bill's book, I am also remaining balanced by not writing a review. This, I repeat, is NOT a review of The No Spin Zone, only a commentary about the overwhelming influx of reviews spurred on by the words of Maddox. I simply want to say that these reviews are embarrassing for the people who have opinions of their own, the people who don't follow what some faceless entity online says, and the people who form their thoughts around substance and not muckraking.
Rating: Summary: Even as a true conservative, this is junk... Review: O'Reilly is indeed bitter, angry man. No Spin Zone is one of most lame works I have read in a long time. Books such as this truly show the out of touch and uninformed side of consevative America, I am glad to be a true conservative and not stoop to the level of Mr. O'Reilly.
Rating: Summary: The People Have Spoken! Review: I find it enjoyable to watch the battle of stupidity here. First off we have people who follow and post reviews on a book they haven't read. Then, we have the people who abhor these people and spout rhetoric that could be straight from a Bill O'Reilly Monologue. I mean, for christ's sake people, get your own opinions. I, myself, tend to favor Maddox's wit and independent thoughts, simply because of my location in the country. Oh, and for the fact that i'm not a utter pawn in the grand republican scheme of near-nazist control. If you want to make a point, at least make it original. All of you who have supported Maddox, give it a rest, he can support himself. And to all of those who are against Maddox and his following, give it a rest too, you all sound the same: Trying to sound ethical and intelligent with your perfectly written reviews. Hmmm, did you, perchance, click a button on your computer screen that corrected your grammar and spelling? Or maybe you proof-read it for typographical errors and the like? Well, here's a quote for you folks: "Nobody Cares." If you know who said that, congratulations, you're one up. So, in conclusion, get your opinions people. It's obvious unless you are a moron to see that Bill O'Reilly is not a paragon of righteousness or anything near that close: he is a pompous puppet that has only reached such heights because his little trust-fund family paid his way through college and paid his way into television. Money may not buy you love, Bill, but it certainly can buy you a T.V. and book deal.
Rating: Summary: Cry me a river.. Review: Geez I wonder if it possible to not give a crap about Maddox and still think B.O. is a boring hypocrite. Self absorbed a-hole. I read the book...know exactly how to spell....could not care less about Maddox.Bill is still an an ass, and this book still sucks.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I can't believe anyone would like anything by this guy. Undoubtedly the same people who read his books will vote for a hypocritical corrupted scum bag during the next election. Interesting fact: After porn star Jenna Jameson went onto his show to be put down several times for her career choice, Bill asked her for one of her tapes.
Rating: Summary: Poorly written Review: Poorly layed out arguments. Full of many opinions with very little reason.
Rating: Summary: Not a book review just a statement Review: I guess I am just one of the "sheep" as one of the previous reviews stated. I have read and agreed with almost all the articles on http://maddox.xmission.com/ He writes great articles, they are amusing, and some just down right true. But, I pose a question to you all....If you do not like the works of Maddox, why do you continually go to that website and read??
Rating: Summary: Beh... Review: I couldn't care less about the book, it's a mediocre read. What's interesting *here* is another political figure... seems maddox has more than a bit of a cult following. I read his page, but somehow I didn't think his fans were the type to go out into the world and actually DO something. Even so minor as trashing the reviews of a book by a man He didn't like. Anyway, the book is a nice long meandering rant... if you're looking for a good alternate media source, watch an hour of CNN then read a chapter of some Micheal Moore. I think you'll find that's a much more informative activity.
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly is a hypocrite. Review: All you have to do to realize how much of a lying hypocrite Bill is is to read the chapter about him in Al Franken's book. First he claimed to have won awards he did not, and then he tried to lie to cover it up. He pretends to be on some high moral plane when he is more lowly than the people he despises.
