Rating: Summary: pandora is beautiful Review: Anne Rice deserves a full round of applause for the one. Pandora kept up with the suspense and tension that you expect from Rice.
Rating: Summary: Mrs. Rice..keep them coming Review: As a follower of Lestat, I was at first aprehensive about reading another vampire's view other than his own. Yet in Pandora, I was pleasently surprised to find that she had the same lure Lestat has. This book is definetly a worthy companion of the Vampire Chronicles, keep them coming Anne.
Rating: Summary: Well at least this covers better Review: What can I say? Anne what happened??!! Awful, that's how to discribe it. Just horrible. Ussually I like Ms. Rice's books. I guess I should get a clue after finding the Rosie O'Donnell likes to indulge herself with Rice's books and bon bon's at the same time!! Rambling, and rambling. Sexual tensions fill the book. She even has sex with Marius after they became vampires. I thought Vampires couldn't have sex, at least that's what I was led to belive..by her. Anyway, save some money, and time. You can get all this in the other books. The only good part was the first chapter where David meets her. Two Vampires face off!! Was hoping for a little Vampire fight. Would have been pretty cool. But once she starts writing, everyone starts going to sleep. Pretty usless and bad. Should we place Ann on the shelf next to Jackie Collins and Dannelle Steel...under TRASH?!
Rating: Summary: Decrease in the vampirical, increase in the historical. Review: As always, Rice's writing style, full of imagery and artful descriptions, held my attention throughout this new novel. But Pandora falls short in its biographical elements as they relate to vampirism. I was haunted by Rice's descriptions of Rome and Antioch, but I initially bought the book to learn more about the VAMPIRE Pandora, not the educated WOMAN Pandora. I was angered that Rice mentioned a Great Russian Vampire, but never gave any descriptions of Pnadora's life with him. Rice should have lengthened the book and given her readers more of what they want, descriptive and complete imagery into the lives of her vampires, woven story lines with character interraction, and some type of plot.
Rating: Summary: Mesmerising - Spectacular - Enchanting Review: Reading Pandora - The New Vampire Chronicle not only keeps you captivated but shed new light to the whole chronicle. Not only Ms Rice, brings to fore a new hero, Pandora, she also manages to keep readers entertained till the very end. And now, after acquiring The Vampire Armand , I just can't wait to read more of Ms Rice's work. Thank you Ms. Rice for an entertaining 1998 - May God bless you.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: It was a great novel, full of intrigue and mysticism. I loved it
Rating: Summary: not the best she can do, I hope Review: This is my first experience with Anne Rice's books, and from this experience, I recommend that this is not the book that first-time Rice readers should start with. The story and writing was pretty basic leaving much to be desired, and frankly, I thought the story much more interesting before she became a vampire. I am a fan of Dracula and vampire tales in general, so if anyone has any suggestions as to which Rice novel might be a better starting point suggestions would be welcome.
Rating: Summary: Finally a good waste of talent on another vampire story Review: This book was enjoyable and delightful. Even though i was cautious of her books because i had never read one before. This book lacked originality. After i read this book i decided to check out some more of Anne Rice. I tried to read the first chapter of Memnoch...yeah right...it was horrible. I think that Rice may have just gotten lucky on this book and found the right wording. I don't know how her books made it to the best sellers list, but after Memnoch, i'll never read another of her's!
Rating: Summary: "Pandora" is a great novella that captures the imagination. Review: I thought that "Pandora" was an excellent book that showcased Anne Rice's ability to write lavish descriptions and delve into the heart of the unknown and the mysterious. Though some claim that "Pandora" does not follow Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, I have one simple answer: On the cover it reads: "New Tales of the Vampires" While no other character can take the place of Lestat, I truely believe that Pandora is the next thing and I hope to read more about her.
Rating: Summary: Been there. Done that Review: Yet the same Vampire wrapped up in a different coffin. This is a sad and tragic state of affairs. When will Anne rice let the Vampires of the Chronicles live immortally instead of treating each and every one as a member of the Vampiric Beverly Hills 90210 club. This Book is pure soap opera written by the real blood sucker who will not leave the characters alone. I salute Anne Rice for 'Interview','Lestat' & 'Queen', but enough is enough after that. Show some respect and wisdom 'Anne'!, you were Genious enough to create the first three but less is more. So why did I read this book 'Pandora'? out of duty I guess, certainly not for passion or enjoyment. This book is like the rolling stones greatest hits album, you like the stuff in it but you've heard it all before on the real original albums. Lastly, I remember back in 1986 when I heard Sting's first solo Album. This album got me hooked onto the Chronicles due to one of the songs on the album called 'Moon Over Burbon Street'. There was another song on the album with words of great wisdom. The words went 'if you love somebody...set them free. If you want to keep something precious...lock it up and throw away the key'. Anne Rice has done the exactly the opposite. Sadly. Where is your Vampiric passion and courage.Keith Wynne
