Review: The "Partner" left me wondering who was the hero until the the last pages. I was not quite sure I was supposed to want Patrick to get away with everything but found myself on his side even though I didn't know why he had committed this theft. Knowing he had stolen the money from a law firm was in itself a reason to beleive in him.I'll recommend it

Review: This is one of John Grisham's best. It was fast paced and interesting. I read it in one weekend. I even figured out the ending ahead of time (unusual for me). I think it ended like Steven King's books. This will make a great movie. This book was better than all but The Client

Review: typical grisham. took a while before you knew what was going on, but he keeps you wanting more. without spoiling it, the ending was like a patricia cornwell story - the writer has no idea how to end the book, and pulls a conclusion from out of left field - leaves you wondering if spending the time to read the book was worth it...

Summary: Grisham needs a co-author
Review: The Client again demonstrates that success is built upon the abysmally low standards of the American reader and the resonance engendered in that public by detailing the slime of the American legal system. The book is a tour de force of weaving together a cast of cartoon characters, farcical plot and a No Henry ending by means of talented prose. The guy can write but he demonstratively lacks anything to write about. Grisham's motto appears to be: Suspend any rational though when you read this book. His books fall into two classes: 1) Hate "whitey" polemics and 2) Action-Suspense without suspense but with random action. He would please me if he would join forces with another writer who had a head for story line, character development and had a logical mind. With such help, a future Grisham novel could make sense as well as have great surging prose style.

Summary: Back to the best of Grisham's legal thrillers
Review: John Grisham goes back to his original legal thriller format with his latest novel, The Partner. Although the later novels have been well written and well received, Grisham goes back to his formula for success with his earlier titles such as "The Firm" and "The Pelican Brief". A gripping novel with several sub-plots, I got deeply engrossed in the novel and was dissapointed when I turned the last page. Another late night (really early morning) with Mr. Grisham. And it was well worth it

Summary: Good, but predictable.
Review: Being a fan of Mr. Grisham's, I eagerly await his new releases. After The Rainmaker and Runaway Jury, I am pleased to see something more "traditionally" Grisham. This book is a pleasant read, the story moves quickly and the characters are sufficiently developed to earn the emotional involvement of the reader. Unfortunately, I unraveled the mystery early enough to diminish my enjoyment of the remainder of the book. I would still recommend this one. The ending lends itself to a sequel

Summary: I love Grisham...
Review: Having read all of Grisham's books I'm a huge fan. His earlier books had more spectacular stories, but his style has become much more sophisticated in the last few books (and nothing can beat the Rainmaker, which is a book I would want to have written myself). The Partner didn't let me down, it lived up to my expectations. A carefully calculated plot that covered all possible angles of the case (but WHY did the bimbo have to be Swedish?). The only reason why I didn't give it a 10 is the ending though... I had the last chapter figured out long before it happened and although I wished the end wouldn't happen I was 99% sure it would. It would have been fun with a slightly different surprise, although (hoping not to give anything away) I liked the fact that it didn't end like a few of the previous books... nuff said!!! Anyway, if anybody's thinking of buying it my advice is to stop thinking and start reading. Grisham is the master of suspense, I read it in little over one day... I couldn't keep my eyes off it!!

Review: Being a loyal Grisham reader, I was kind of disappointed with his last three books, but he made it up in "The Partner". This book was exciting to start with and ended with a totally unexpected twist

Summary: A new hope!
Review: Finally...after having been drawn into following Grisham's work with his first four books, I had become sorely disappointed with his last three efforts. The Chamber and the Rainmaker, although good stories, were too much of a let down and the Runaway Jury, I am sad to say, has been one of the most difficult books to read and I have yet to finish it. However, The Partner was a fast, non-stop read that kept me interested throughout the entire book. The Partner is reminiscent of The Firm, but this time Grisham sets forth an intriguing story that starts at the end and eventually presents the reader with most of the details of the true story (or is it??). The main character, Patrick Lanigan, can come across to some as a 'bad' guy and to others a 'hero' and that's the beauty of the story - the reader is able to make his/her own decision on why they want to root for Patrick or against Patrick. At the end, after you have twisted and turned and think you completely understand the story, you realize that there are even more stories that could go on about this complex, intelligent (or not so intelligent) bad guy-hero. I heartily recommend the lastest Grisham novel, not only for those who have never read Grisham, but also for those of you who may have lost interest and felt Grisham had perhaps fallen into the 'formula' writing that can become boring and predictable. Renew your enthusiasm by reading The Partner! I did.

Review: Having eagerly awaited the arrival of Mr Grisham's latest endeavor it was disappointing to have done so. From his earlier works we know the author has the talent to keep one's attention for hours. Of all his previous writings this falls to the bottom of his list, second only to "Runaway Jury" in its mediocrity. Mr Grisham seems to be falling into the routine of grinding out books for the money rather than quality as this writer has seen all too many times in the past
