Summary: roses are red
Review: What a wild ride this one turned out to be. This book had more twist and turns than a mountain road.

Summary: Not his best, but not bad
Review: I'm a huge James Patterson fan and was looking forward to his new book. This book was the same fast paced, page turning book that Patterson always writes, but it wasn't up to par with "Kiss the Girls" or "Cat and Mouse". But if your a Patterson fan it's a must read. Hopefully, in the next book he'll back to true form.

Summary: PATTERSON IS THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST!
Review: The saying that I hear from most book fanatics are "Each book by my favorite authors get better and better." That is definitely true in the case of James Patterson. "Roses Are Red," in my opinion, is by far one of the best novels that James Patterson has ever written. Let me just tell you this: THE ENDING WILL ABSOLUTELY BLOW YOU OUT OF YOUR SHOES! I mean the very last page is the best part of the novel. Unfortunately, there is one major sad part in this novel. Alex Cross's daughter Jannie, has a brain tumor, and she is in the hospital for a while. If you haven't read all of Nursery Rhyme novels by James Patterson, then I would start with the first one, so you are more familiar with the main characters and their relationships. YOU ROCK JAMES PATTERSON! I'm looking forward to "1st To Die" in April 2001!

Summary: A Thorny Rose
Review: I have been a James Patterson fan ever since my daughter recommended his books to me two years ago. I have purchased and enjoyed each one. I recommend books based on several criteria: (1-How long does it take me to finish it? 2-Do I care about the characters? 3-Does it make me laugh? 4-Does it make me cry? 5-Am I inspired by the characters? 6-Am I satisfied with the ending?) 1-I finished the book in 2-days. The print is large and 2-3 pages per chapter makes it an easy read. 2-I didn't care much for the characters. The main characters had been developed in previous books and this one did little to add to their stature. I I picked it up for the first time, I wouldn't care at all about them. 3-Not a single point of laughter in the whole book. 4-Could have cried about the plight of one of the characters but it was too contrived so didn't. 5-Being a copy in Washington, D.C. deserves my admiration. I continue to be inspired by the lead character which is why I read it so quickly. 6-The ending is contrived and leads to another book. Undoubtedly I will read it too. Recommedation: Good but not great. Not a waste of time but will never make my top list of recommendations.

Summary: Tense and Exciting
Review: This is an exciting hard to put down novel. I won't say more because I don't want to give any of the plot away, but the blood runs deep red and fast here. James Patterson's good tight prose makes "Roses are Red" one of his best yet. I hope he doesn't make us wait too long for more of Alex Cross. I like detective Cross and I loved this book.Vannie(~.~)

Summary: One of the Best Patterson/Alex Cross Stories
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kept me at the edge of my seat and I was blown away by the ending. I can only hope that Christine comes to her senses in the next book!!!!!! I hope the personna of Mastermind continues into 2001 with the next addition to this saga. I, too, thought Jannie's illness was a little over the edge, but her remarks were A-typical of today's kids!!!!! Much more than I hoped for......as Patterson has been in a bit of a rut the past 2 novels. Thanks for a great read!!

Summary: Chilling ride!
Review: Patterson, the master thriller author does it again with new alex cross shocker.Cross faces his most terrifying opponent yet, evil criminal genius called mastermind who has engineered deadly string of bank-robberies and the cold-blooded murders of the hostages.I defy anyone to start this book and not want to finish it in one sitting! Patterson is the master of suspense as he takes you into the mind of his villian and you worry as Cross's personal life seems to unravel as he battles the mastermind. The plot twists of this novel are fiendishly clever and Patterson says the best for last with a final denoucement on the last sentence that will surprise and chill you!

Summary: Not a bad read
Review: I have read all of mr. Pattersons books but his last few have not overwhelmed me like his first books. Maybe I am just expecting too much. Overall not a bad book but it took me a week to read it -- I usually read a book like this in a couple of days. I like all the characters Alex Cross and Sampson especially, but the plot is a little too similar to previous books. Probably most hard core Patterson fans will like this book, and possible those who have never read patterson will also like it as they do not have read the earlier books to compare to. I just read an interesting little thriller "A tourist in the Yucatan" if you are looking for something different you might want to check it out.

Summary: A very entertaining book
Review: Just finished the abridged audio version of this, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story kept me enthralled, and the villain was terrific. This book made a long drive go by MUCH faster! The use of two readers, one for Dr. Cross' narration and one for narration of The Mastermind, was very helpful and effective. Since I'm not a longtime Patterson reader, the secondary storylines about Cross' girlfriend and his daughter were sort of useless, and mainly distracting, since they had no bearing on the main plot of the book. But this is still a very good book overall.

Summary: EXCELLENT!!! A MUST READ
Review: A series of bank robberies have taken Washington D.C by storm, and while the robberies are taking place, the families of the bank managers are held hostage. If everything goes according to plan no one will die, but if word comes down from the man in charge...the hostages will die, brutally.

Alex Cross, battling a failing relationship, and dealing with his daughter's sudden illness, takes on the case. What Alex doesn't know is that he will be pit against the most ferocious criminal he has ever faced...The Mastermind.

The Mastermind has a plan, and the robberies are just the beginning. Alex will be drawn into a twisted game with The Mastermind, a game with only one winner. Alex must stop this monster before he enacts his "perfect" crime.

"Roses Are Red" is the best Alex Cross novel in years; the pages turn so fast, the reader is left breathless. Once again Mr. Patterson has written a mesmerizing suspense novel, complete with his standard short punchy chapters, gripping plot twists, and a little romance, all leading to the shocking climax.

Place this "UP ALL NIGHT" read on your MUST READ list!
