Summary: My Wife Love This Book - (Laughing Out Loud)
Review: I bought this book as a gift for my wife ... but wound up hearing most of it myself as she read it out loud to me. Ms. Heaton comes across as a very wry, witty observer of modern conditions. She's got a great story to tell and left my wife much-encourgaged and uplifted.

Summary: Loved it. Write another book please!
Review: I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did, in fact it's totally not something I would usually pick up at all. I'm not sure why I did except that I love the show, Raymond, and I love the cover of the book, oh and I love that she busted out Michelle Pfeiffer on her plastic surgery on Leno, well I guess I do know why I picked it up! Definitely worth reading!

Summary: Glad I didn't buy it
Review: I enjoyed Heaton's breezy writing style and her common-sense approach to both acting and parenting. However, I found the chapters somewhat choppy (the combination of several articles). It was a fast read because it was a SHORT book! I got it out of the library, and honestly, I recommend that to others. Not worth the money, but a fun read.

Summary: Funny Lady
Review: I enjoyed this novel very much. Her honesty about herself& others was very refreshing. If only other movie stars were as honest. She is funny as well. I highly recommended it.

Summary: nice, quick read
Review: I love Patricia's character "Debra" on ELR. She's a wonderful actress who like may actors had to overcome many hurdles to make it. Let's face it.. the chances of making it in hollywood are slim. Parts of the book were funny like all the odd jobs she worked just to get by. I guess i related because I also made the mistake of working for my college cafeteria for one semester. When you need to survive, you would work anywhere!!

Besides random jobs, Patricia does go into many other parts of her life: Ohio, family, friends, etc. It was a nice quick read! I saw some reviews which accused her of being "whiney" and "ungrateful." Come on now! she had a hard time getting here...Why glorify the dead-end jobs? Also, why does she need to thank Ray Romano all the time???? This is a story about her, not a story of how great Ray is!

Anyways, i bought this book to learn more about Patricia Heaton; however, I think i only got a 5,000 foot view of who she is. I know she wrote an number of memoirs and put them together to produce this book, but I wish there was more! How did she get on ELR and other roles? Any roles which she was rejected from? How did it affect her? What happened in the first marriage? How was her emotional state during all this? What about her new production company?

Maybe i'm asking for toooooo much? I recently read the book by lance armstrong... which i thought was amazing. I guess I was hoping Patricia's book would be similar knowing that she struggled quite a bit.

All in all, if you're patricia heaton fan, you will love this book no matter what. She can do no wrong in many people's minds. Personally, as an avid reader, I thought the book was lite reading. Something that you would read once (maybe twice) and pass on. I still have tremendous respect for her as an actress and would love to see Patricia act in other shows/movies. If not, maybe when ELR ends, she'll have more time and write a second book that would put this one to shame.

Summary: Fun, Nostalgic, and Tells It Like It Is
Review: I loved this book! I didn't think the author was whining at all. I think she was just having fun writing about the private school demands. Since I used to teach in a private school, I knew where she was coming from. I could see how how much the parents were always being asked to contribute, whether it be in time or money. I also loved the emphasis she puts on families, with all the ups, downs, laughs and tears that any family has. I finished the book a few days ago, but I still catch myself thinking about my own childhood. Just like she did,we spent most of our time "playing" with friends, coming in only when it was time for dinner. Sitting in front of TV just wasn't done.
As far as the downside to success, I think we all see that every week standing in front of the tabloids while waiting to checkout at the grocery store. She wasn't whining--she was just being truthful. I would recommend this book to those who don't take everything so personally and seriously. Just enjoy it!

Summary: How ungrateful can you get
Review: I read this book and would like to request my time back that I wasted. Not only doesn't she mention the fact that without Ray Romano she would still be doing those horrible jobs but she hardly mentions the show at all. And when she did it was to put it down. Maybe when she had the plastic surgery they removed her brain. I have read autobiographies that flowed when you read them. Wasn't there an editor who checked to make sure that it flowed and wasn't so jumpy. And what is with constantly bringing up the fact her mother died when she was twelve. Once was quite enough. I actually feel sorry the most for her husband and children. I can't imagine what life is like with this ungrateful wretch. What a waste with so many actresses who would give their right arms for her chance, all she can do is complain. Saying that people think she makes more money than she does and she isn't really rich. She probably makes more money for each show than most people make in a year. I am also from Ohio and most Ohioans aren't like she is. All I can say is I hope the luck fairy takes it all away from her and gives it to someone else who would appreciate it.

Summary: A "HOOT" FROM PAGE 1
Review: I was only on page 24 and was looking for an email address for Ms. Heaton to tell her how much I love her work. When talking about her childhood, it brought back wonderful memories of mine. Life was, truly, so much simpler then. I feel like she is me, or I am her. What a marvelous sense of humor! I will buy everything she writes, and I do hope we see more!A chuckle from beginning to end.

Summary: Honest, Fun, and HILARIOUS
Review: I went out and bought this book (and I rarely buy hard covers) after I read an excerpt of it in PEOPLE magazine. I started reading it on a Tuesday and finished it by Thursday evening. It was full of witty one liners and made me laugh out loud numerous times, but at the same time, it had lots of heart and could be rather poignant. As a writer myself, it's nice to know that someone who works in front of the camera can write as well (and must know how important the writing is to actors). I was impressed that the book didn't say: "Patricia Heaton with INSERT NAME OF GHOST WRITER, i.e., someone who did the actual writing" as you often see with books written by celebrities. This book is lots of fun. I highly recommend it!
