Summary: Kinsey Tracks Down A Killer or Two!
Review: Kinsey was hired to find wealthy Elaine Boldt and the case will seem like no effort at all-wrong! The flashy widow was last seen wearing a $12,000 lynx coat, leaving her condo in Santa Teresa for her condo in Boca Raton. But somewhere in between, she simply vanished. Kinsey's case goes from puzzling to sinister when a house is torched, an apartment is burgled of worthless papers, the lynx coat comes back-without Elaine. And the Elaine's bridge partner is found dead. Soon Kinsey's clues begin to form a capital M-not for missing, but for murder; and plenty of it.

The book will keep you engrossed and I've really enjoyed the series so far.

Summary: A Genuine Mystery
Review: Last week I bought the latest Kinsey Millhone paperback, P IS FOR PERIL, and after reading it I decided to start at the beginning and read them all again. I found A IS FOR ALIBI somewhat disappointing. I didn't like Kinsey's insensitive right-wing "lawnorder" politics, and I was able to figure out who dunnit well before the book's conclusion.

However, commencing with B IS FOR BURGLAR (I'm now up to G) Sue Grafton has been characterizing Kinsey as tough and competent without making her into a tediously macho John Wayne with lipstick. Best of all, this one's a rare mystery that throws out all the clues honestly and still remains tantalizingly mysterious until the last few pages. What a joy! Small wonder this slim novel won all the major prizes for its publishing year.

I worry that Grafton is up to Q. What will she do when she gets to Z? Start over with numbers, I hope.

Summary: What a first
Review: My friend recommended this series to me, and to kick it off bought me the B&C books (A was sold out). I started reading B Is For Burlar and couldn't put it down until I was done. I don't read alot of mysteries, but this could really get me started. I thought it was very well written and really kept me on my toes the whole way through. When you cringe when the main character gets hurt, that's a good book. I plan to read the whole series and I don't expect to be disappointed. I'd recommend this to any reader, even if you aren't big on mysteries.

Summary: simply the best
Review: So far, I've read up to "D is for Deadbeat" in this series of mystery novels, and as far as the the early books go, I think this is the best one. Grafton's writing style is so matter of fact that the filler parts kind of get boring in her other books, but this one is filled with plot twists and enthralling characters that keep the pages moving fast. A lady turns up missing and Kinsey Millhone is hired to find her. But what starts off as a missing persons case ends up a lot more bloody and viscious. The characters that pop up and drop dead in this book are just great. There's the missing lady's alcoholic sister and her husband; a punk rock teenage boy and his uncle who's recovering from the death of his wife; a retired woman in her 80s who wants to be a PI; a neurotic subletter; a quirky landlady; and a cute old couple. The mystery is just great but in this one, the characters are better. If you haven't read any of Grafton's books yet, start with this one-- you won't be sorry.

Summary: B is for BLAH!
Review: Sorry, but this book was awful. I figured out where Elaine was about half way through the book. I thought the first book was ok, but after this, I'm not reading Sue Grafton's books anymore, they're going downhill fast!

Summary: An "A" in my book
Review: Sue Grafton gets an "A" for approval on this second in her series of mystery novels. The characters continue to be fresh and I enjoy the twists that she puts into her plot. There was only one point that I was confused about regarding the outcome for two of the characters. I would highly recommend this second in her series for all mystery readers.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An interesting murder mystery that moves WAY too slowly
Review: Sue Grafton has created a smart, crafty private eye, but she makes Kinsey Millhone move way too slowly. The book has a few cliff hangers and moments of suspense, but the book has so few of them, and they are so far apart, I found it hard to read more than 3 pages at a time. The only reason I didn't give the book 2 stars is because the ending ties everything in well, and Grafton gave the ending an excellent twist (if you didn't guess it half way through the book).

Summary: Great book!
