Summary: Superb Writer
Review: Michael Crichton is a master of science fiction. He has the uncanny ability to take popular scientific subjects such as dinosaurs, time travel, and disease control and create an incredible action packed story with great twists and never ending suspense. WOW!

Summary: Now My Favorite Book
Review: Timeline is the best book I have read to date. I was given this book as a gift, and never got around to reading it. About 6 months later, I'm bored one day and pick it up. After that, I couldn't put it down! The plot was great, full of action, some mystery, and even a comic line here and there. Timeline is the only Crichton novel I have read, but I plan on reading many more of his works. This was a GREAT book, and I recommend it to anyone who likes time-travel and historic-fiction.

Summary: THRILLER FROM BEGINING TO END...!
Review: This book was an absolute thriller from begining to end because of Michael Crichton paints the pictures in your head. It's a great book. I couldn't put it down. If you like medieval history, modern day theories, science and so on...this book is for you. Well, even if you aren't interested in that, It's still for you!

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: Crichton's spin on this often repeated theme (going back in time) was a super read; a roller-coaster in a book! OK, the "villian" seemed familiar, as well as the token female researcher, but I found the idea of going back to a very scary (to the modern reader) time, to rescue someone, plausible. Mr. Crichton really knows how to tell a story so that even the most unlikely scenario seems possible. The semi-science mixed with historical fiction worked for me. I loved the book!

Summary: Par The Course For Crichton
Review: I really like Michael Crichton books. At his worst, he writes a compelling story that keeps you turning the pages with little or no cognitive effort. At his best, he can introduce a new scentific theory and illustrate its impacts on society with an entertaining story.

Timeline falls somewhere between these two extremes. Although he does well with the quantum theory in the beginning, he tends to drop this element of the storyline in order to pursue one that involves chase scenes and damsels in distress.

It is an engaging read, but don't expect to be too challenged by the content.

Summary: Crichton, Back On Track
Review: Timeline kept me turning pages, enthralled with what was coming next. After Airframe, which read more like an instruction manual on building planes than a story, I purchased Timeline with great trepidation. What I found was the elements of Jurassic Park and Sphere, two of his finest pieces of work. Though I felt a bit overloaded with too much information, which is in true Crichton fashion, I closed the book recommending it to anyone that has read his previous work--naturally adding the qualifier that it is nothing like Airframe (sorry Michael, but it bored me to tears). This is definitely a worth-while read.

Summary: A Blend of History & Science
Review: A nice quick read for anyone who has a combined interest in science, history, and an energetic thriller.

Summary: A pleasant high-tech romp through the past...
Review: I read this book while on vacation this past summer, and it was a perfect beach book. It mixes a variety of interesting angles, with a pleasing result.

The book takes us back in time to medieval France, to the days of knights in shining armor and ladies in distress. Crighton throws in high-tech time travel, suspense, mystery, and a critical time limit (if you don't get back to your time machine within the deadline, you're stuck there forever).

I liked the historical novel parts of the book, giving insight as to how real life must have been for women in the past (not everyone was a sighing lady, waiting for her knight to woo her), and the techno geek additions blended well with the story. The plot did get a little complicated and cutesy at times, but hey, this is fiction, right?

All in all worth the read, especially if you're a fan of historical fiction mixed with light SF.

Summary: Thank goodness!
Review: Reading Disclosure and Rising Sun made me worry that we'd never see another good Crichton book, but this reassured me. I liked the mix of science and historical fiction in this book. I read this book in two sittings, but only because I needed to sleep.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Always interesting
Review: As with all of Crichton's books he does a wonderful job at putting you in the setting. His books are Science Fiction, but they always have some history or culture to tell you about. This one is know different. I found the history behind the book very interesting. Even if the story wasn't one of his best it still was a fun read.
