Rating: Summary: one word- wow Review: A truly amazing, and unforgettable book-With a bit from last summer, the four girls again made me laugh and cry out loud. Bonded by a pair of cheap jeans, Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena share their experiences, conflicts, and emotions throughout the whole summer. What was amazing was that Ann Brashares's way of writing was different and brought everything alive and vivid. The entire book was not so formatted and restricted on any form of writing style. Her writing made the reader, or at least I, feel easy and extremely comfortable. The book seemed as if it was "talking", and the story presented itself in a very casual way. Every detail, every little story, every message the four girls wrote, every little quote all came alive. Each of the four girls differed in race, had their own unique personalities, and different problems, yet they connection so perfectly well together. The four girls were not only fictional characters in a fiction teen novel but lovable and realistic girls. Ann Brashares remarkably created the characters to seem so real and easy to relate to. Their problems, issues, and conflicts were all so real lifelike that it may happen to any average person, possibly even you or me. When I first started to read this book, honestly, it was only because we had to find a book to read for a class. However, I couldn't stop myself from reading straight through when I laid my hands on the book. Not only did the interesting quotes from every chapter made the book interesting but also the author's ability. Ann Brashares is beyond doubt an incredible writer. This book is heart warming and, as I mentioned earlier, made me both laugh and cry out loud. In addition, I've learned a lot from this book, and most importantly as Ann Brashares had said, "Love your pals, and love yourself." The Second Summer of the Sisterhood touched me, and will stay with me perhaps, forever. I strongly suggest this book to not only all teenage girls out there, but also to anyone (regarding both genders) who is up for a story that may possibly remain forever in one's heart.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: After I read the first book (The sisterhood of the traveling pants) I couldn't wait for the sequel. As soon as I got it I read it in two days and I was not dissapointed. It follows Lena, Bridget(Bee), Carmen and Tibby through their next summer as Bee goes to Alabama to see her grandmother (althought she says she is a girl named Gilda) and to find herself. Tibby goes to film camp and I least enjoyed reading her part which seems a bit boring compared to Lena's tale of an incredably unpredictable story with Kostos. I was shocked when I found out what happens at the end of her and Kostos's story, I cried for the first time from a book reading it. Carmen works to ruin her mother's releationship with a man named David while she starts dating a guy from her school. Carmen's story is a but predictable, but I love it all the same. I absolutly loved this book and I recomend it for anyone who liked or loved the first one!
Rating: Summary: Summertime Is Still Sweet.... Review: I'm a big reader of books of all kinds - teen fare that I can get away with reading, the oh so popular chick lit (a la Bridget Jones Diary), and of course classics and top sellers. So I've got a lot to compare Ann Brashares 2nd offering to - and overall I'd give it a 3.5 stars rather then 4 or 3. The story itself picks up 10 months after the last one began - summer break yet again with the girls beginning their yearly tradition of breaking into the gym where their mothers had exercise class together and thus brought the four main characters together - Lena - gorgeous but shy and serious, deals with lessons in love and heartbreak via Kostos (her Greek grandparents family friends son) in this novel...my only problem is that she doesn't really seem to change her attitude much from the last book until the very end, and even then she seems unaware that she is growing up. Carmen - Rehashes the storyline of the last book in this one with a few plot points changed - basically plays a bratty daughter yet again. Carmen is probably my least fave character in terms of development both plot and characterwise - she never seems to learn anything (which perhaps is a character trait). Tibby - Seems to have a much smaller role in this book, particularly towards the end, doens't really grow much but revisits the previous summer in an interesting way. Bee - My fave character and in my opinion has the strongest and most interesting storyline - where she impulsively takes off to Alabama to visit her long lost grandmother and to discover more about her bi-polar mother who killed herself many years ago. Its interesting because Bee appears to be the only one who changed OVER the course of the year, and thus you get to watch her become something from those changes instead of just re-visiting last summers experiences and lessons. All in all I enjoyed Brashares writing, I love the quotes she uses, and she makes you feel for each of the characters. The only thing I have to criticize her on is the lack of major growth the girls should have experienced during the school year, as the mistakes they made in this book were far too similar to the previous years. Personally the summer before grade 10 and the summer before grade 11 (or grade 11 and grade 12) were completely different times for me, and I think the girls really should've learnt something more then quadratic functions over the year. Another small criticism is that the girls are almost too functioned on their said plot points...Brashares could've created a more 3-dimensional world but granted a book can only show you so much. Finally I think she makes the girls a bit over-emotional at times to the point where it becomes unbelievable. However if you are into the ever popular continuity-necessary teen novel that dominates the market today, then pick this (and the first) book up for some fun summer reads.
Rating: Summary: Better than the First Review: Ok, well i am not normally a huge fan of sequils because the author in some way or another ends up messing up an already wonderful story. But suprisingly enough, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, is just as good or even better then the first!! I really enjoyed this story, and once started you don't want to put it down! The characters are true, and real. Not one of those shallow characters that don't have any meaning. Bee, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby are all just like you, and reading what they have to say makes sense. You can understand the agony, and joys of being a teenager and you can totally relate. I love this book, and many new characters are introduced, while others return for more. I highly reccomend this book!! Once, you start you don't want to put it down. This novel is filled with wise lessons, romance, sadness, happiness, and of course adventure. It's all here, and i really hope you will take the time and read it.
Rating: Summary: The Second Summer... Review: This book is amazing. Once I got it, I couldn't stop. I couldn't believe how well Ann Brashares related to the teen girls in the world now.

My favorite character is Bridget. Even though at first, I was dissapointed that she changed so drastically, with the fat and brown hair, eventually she comes back to being the audacious and athletic blondie.

My next favorite character is probably Lena. Even though she made some mistakes, like breaking up while she was still in love with him, she falls back in love. One thing I didn't like was that she changed. She was lovable in the first book and now she was insane because of Kostos in the sequel.

Then comes Carmen. I didn't really like her, because she never learns from her mistakes! She is selfish, immature, and self-centered. Even though she fixes up everything at the end, she wasn't one of my favorite characters.

Tibby is my least favorite. When she went to the college, she made that video on her mom that was very inappropriate and she was very shallow. She tried to "ignore" Brian, and she only stuck with the "cool" kids Alex and Maura. Later on, she makes it up. Another reason why I didn't like her was that she tried to ignore Bailey at first, and I loved Bailey. I was so upset when she died. But it was very nice of Tibby to make a video of her.

All in all, I really loved this book. I anticipate the movie and the third book. I'm sure both productions will be awesome.
Rating: Summary: A.K.A. the Love Pants Review: This is the powerful sequel to the best-selling prequel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Lena, Bridget, Carmen and Tibby again go seperate ways for the summer. Lena and Carmen stay in Bethesda, Tibby attends a college film-course, Bridget flies to Burgess, Alabama to meet her Grandmother. Even thought Carma and Lena stay home, both are struggling emensly to keep everything in their lives in order. Lena misses Kostas, the Greek boy she met last summer. They're relationship is over. Carmen's mother has a new boyfriend, and he's totally wrecking Carmen's life! Tibby and Brian face hard times, and Bailey still lies in Tibby's memory, a sad, lonely thought. These four girls are proof that together, you and your friends can accomplish anything. But will Lena make it through the summer? She's having the worst summer of her life. What's going to happen to the sisters? The summer is progressing, and things are getting pretty bad for all of them. I loved this book and recommend it to all teenagers.
Rating: Summary: An Excelent Sequal Review: While the first book was great, some things were no finished. What would happen to Bee? What would happen with Lena and Kostos? Would Tibby remember what Baily taught her? The Second Summer of the Sisterhood answers these. Bridget heads off to Alabama, and, under the name Gilda, does odd jobs for her grandmother, like cleaning out the attic. In doing this, Bee wants to face her past. Carmen's mother stats going out. Carmen is worried, and jelous that her mother is having a better realtionship than Carmen is. Tibby takes a film course at a nearby college. And while she makes new friends, old ones remind her of Baily and her message. Lena gets a job at a boutique for middle aged women, and as she tries to find out about a love from her mother's past, she longs to comfron one from her own. Ann Brashers does a wonderful job. The book has the same wonderful qualities the first possessed. Fans of the book couldn't ask for a better sequal. This ia a must for anyone who read the first book.
