Rating: Summary: NOT HIS BEST BOOK... Review: Denise Holden is a single mother, raising her 4 year-old son Kyle, and struggling with his speech disability. During a savage storm, Denise and Kyle are involved in a terrible car accident, leaving Denise unconscious and bleeding. To the rescue comes volunteer fireman Taylor McAden, upon finding the car only she (Denise) will be found...As the search for Kyle begins, Taylor and Denise will begin to bond, a bond that is strong, a bond that will have these two strangers opening their hearts to one another. "The Rescue" begins interestingly enough, but eventually falls flat. Once the rescue mission is accomplished the book drags on about Taylor and Denise's struggle with love, and life itself. The sub-plot of Kyle's disability holds the readers attention, as well as the development of a bond between Taylor and the young boy, but this does not seem to be enough to carry the novel. Nicholas Sparks has his formula love theme applied here, without any new twists. His style of writing is very readable, and the length of the novel is short, so many readers will have no problem finishing it in a couple hours, but many readers will come away from it unsatisfied. Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I loved this book and was crying at the end. I really enjoy Nicholas Sparks books and I think the people that disliked this book probably shouldn't be reading Spark's books. This is what he writes. I don't just like romance novels, I like it when things don't go perfect, when the characters have to overcome something and it's not like a soap opera and things just work out. If you are a mom or even a parent for that matter you will appreciate this mother-son relationship and it will tug at your heart. A Bend it the Road and The Rescue are two that must be read! If you din't like these, then you're reading the wrong type of books all together! I just bought his latest tonight and can't wait to read it and whatever he has planned for us next!
Rating: Summary: This book will touch your heart. Review: I've read all of Nicholas Sparks's books and for Sparks' fans, this one will be no dissappointment. He has a way of making his characters come alive. You can't help but empathize with them as you feel their pain, their loniless, their joy, and even their love. I especially enjoyed reading about little Kyle and could picture this sweet little boy with his speech impediment and language problem. What a special joy he was to his mother. I didn't think the plot (if there was a plot) was all that well constructed and the fire and rescue chapters seem almost disjointed with the rest of the book. However, it did not stop me from enjoying the book and the heartfelt sentiments that always come through in Sparks writing style. I'm already looking forward to Spark's next book.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This is the first Nicholas Sparks book that I've read and it was so amazing and I can't wait to read another one of his books. The book had many twists and turns that really helped you to appreciate the life you lead. I didn't really like the Epilogue becuase .... I would give the ending away. so if your reading for an interesting love story that will make you cry, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Review: Well, to be honest, I had never heard of Nicholas Sparks before..that is until I saw the movie "A Walk To Remember". That movie made me want to read the novel and I must say despite the bad reviews critics are giving it, i thought it was one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Anyways, seeing the movie made me want to read the book. As I read, I absolutely could not put the book down. Before i knew it 2 days had passed and I was finished. I was so impressed with Sparks' work that I then went out and purchased "The Rescue". Just when i thought that "A Walk To Remember" was his best work, I am finding that "The Rescue" was an even better book. I absolutely loved it. The thing i love about Nicholas Spark's writing is the fact that he gets soo deep into detail about the characters it makes you feel like you truly know them. I must say though, that the book was slightly predictable, well ok I could of predicted the way the story ended within the first 10 chapters, but something about the book just kept me reading. I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. I am from Seattle, Wa and I graduated in 2000. The summer after i graduated i moved to Orlando, FL and got a job in retail. I chose to put off college simply cause of the fact that i wanted to go to school back home so i am waiting until next Jan to go back to school. But i haven't read a book since High School and now I love reading again. And i owe that all to Nicholas Sparks! He has a great talent for writing and it's impossible for me to put down any of his books. I'm going to read "A Bend in the Road" next. We'll see how that one goes!
