Review: Carolyn Graham is my hero in creation of motivating (may I say, intoxicating?) rhythms and verse for both children and adults learning English as a new language. I have used many of her books, but this volume is special because it offers both traditonal and new rhymes intertwined to help students begin hearing the sounds and vocabulary that are new to them. The beautiful illustrations are frosting on the cake. Because nursery rhymes are the foundation of many cultural and literary references, it is important that students from other backgrounds have the opportunity to learn these. As with all her chants, the tunes and beat allure children to join in on the repetition of verse. They are simply irresistible.
