Summary: A nice, inspirational read
Review: I bought this as a gift for myself, and this is my first introduction to the adult works of Max Lucado. (I have several of his children's books, and my children and I have thoroughly enjoyed them.) Overall, I found the little essays in this book well-written and inspirational. I would tell myself I would just read "one or two" as a nightly devotional, and end up reading five or six! His descriptions of God's grace and love for us are beyond compare. I did, however, find his descriptions of Christ's death on the cross almost too gleefully lurid. I appreciate the need to explain just how much Christ sacrificed for us, but I wonder if perhaps Mr. Lucado goes into too much detail? I definitely would not recommend this book for someone under 16 for that reason. Still, this is a great, inspirational book and a great introduction to Lucado's work.

Summary: Beautiful testimony of God's love for us!
Review: I don't know if I can do justice in this review, but I will give it my best. This is one of the best books ever on showing us how much God loves us through his gift of Jesus. The author has written a book in a clear and simple and yet, amazing manner, that shows us clearly how much He loves us and how, through Jesus, our Lord, who took on all our sins and through our belief in Jesus we all can receive eternal life with him. I found myself reading the book in just a morning's time and felt so uplifted and comforted. Beautiful stories with many quotes from the Bible verifying and showing us the way to salvation-all we have to do is believe in Jesus. Is that so hard? It is our choice to make. He doesn't use trickery or lies like Satan does to get people to follow his wicked ways, but tells us straight out what we need to do for salvation and he gives us the choice to make our own decision who we want to follow. He will be there for us always anytime we turn to him, he will be there waiting. Enjoy!

Summary: An excellent small dose of Max
Review: I received this little gem as a gift from my wife. Each story Max tells will touch your heart. This is an excellent book to buy for yourself or for someone you care about. It's an excellent introduction for someone who hasn't read any of Max's books. It's also a great gift for someone who has read some of Max's books but needs some refreshment. In this little volume, you're getting a first class compilation of Max's thoughts on grace, forgiveness, what the cross means, and other weighty spiritual topics in UNDERSTANDABLE, plain language. The one story in the book that touches me each time I read it is the one about the boy buying a puppy. I challenge anyone who is flesh and blood to read it and not get emotional. This little gem has a number of other wonderful stories that will touch your heart. Thanks Max for an excellent little gift that truly brings joy to the receiver.

Summary: A Definite Gift to Give
Review: If you're a fan of Lucado, you should find each story to be a unique jewel. However, if you've read many of his other books, you may be disappointed as this book is actually a collection of stories you probably remember from his other works. However, the title of this book captures the theme so precisely; a gift. The gift of Grace, there is no greater gift. And this title explains the purpose of this book: to be a gift to others...for those who would feel comfortable with a smaller book... for those who may only have the time to ocassionally read... or where a story needs to be precise in its brevity. This is such a book. One book that sets out to be a gift, one book that succeeds.

Summary: A Sinner Saved
Review: Not only was the book easy to read (big letters, short stories) but it had basic examples correlating with todays life. I like short stories so I complete what I start. I thought just one or two stories a day will satisfy me but once I started I felt so good in my understanding that I found myself telling people what I just read and I finished the book before I knew it. Most of all I finally understood that I am saved. This must sound foolish as I have been walking with the Lord for some time. How did I misunderstand? I didn't understand His grace. What happiness and satisfaction this brings. The book is pocket size and makes a great gift. I almost kept it for myself, but I know better. I recommend you read, enjoy, and make yourself and someone else happy -- SHARE IT! ----- PS. It was a Christmas gift to me.

Summary: Possibly the best... please give it a chance.
Review: One of the most moving books I've ever read (next to the Bible). Mr. Lucado was no doubt God-inspired in collaborating these stories from other works into this book. What human mind could relay these thoughts in such touching fashion without the intervention of God Himself? How could anyone reject the gift of salvation after reading this book? Certainly a blessing in my life, I pray many others are touched by this work.

Summary: A Collection of Previous Books
Review: Simply, this small treasure is a Greatest Hits collection of Max Lucado's previous writings. Pulling the best snippets of wisdom from books such as The Great House of God and In the Grip of Grace, Lucado creates a melting pot that consists of a Reader's Digest version of all his books.

If you are swamped with his list of available titles, this is a great place to start. You will be able to decide what book to read next after spending time with The Gift for All People.

It's best to read a few stories either in the morning as part of a devotional or at night before going to sleep. The stories will help you examine you're own life and grow closer to Christ.
