Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The price of coal.
Review: When this book showed up on the reading list of one of my fiction classes, I was quite boggled. I had never heard of Sheldon Currie. My girlfriend and I sat down on the couch to delve into this obscure novel. We finished it that same afternoon.

The story's power is only overshadowed by its shocking ending. I put the book down and my mind raced.

I never thought I could ever relate to coal miners in Nova Scotia, but Currie pulled me into the depthes of their bleak world. You too can see their life and their death through a remarkable young woman,Margaret.

This short novel inspired me to write a critical essay. I would love to share it with you, but I rather just whole-heartedly recommend this book in the space that I have available.

I had the opportunity to meet Sheldon Currie shortly after reading this book. This gave me a chance to shake his hand and thank him for introducing me to the miners of Glace Bay and the price of coal.
