Summary: Romance and intrigue wrapped up in a great book!
Review: Finding a safe haven for herself and her twin daughters is utmost in the mind of Hallie O'Rourke as she flees her Arizona home. Someone has murdered her beloved stepfather, and the evidence contained in an old strongbox reveals the prime suspect to be her ex-husband. So Hallie loads her belongings and her children in an old pickup truck and takes off for points unknown, no real destination in mind; just somewhere safe and remote. When mechanical problems and a raging blizzard force Hallie to stop outside the tiny Nevada town of Primrose Creek, it almost seems as if fate has brought her to this refuge of safety. Maybe this would be the place where she and her small family could start life over again?
When rancher Chance Qualtrough encounters Hallie and her girls at the Last Chance Café, his first instinct is to protect the frightened and homeless young woman and her family from whatever danger is pursuing them. As he discovers the true story behind Hallie's flight from danger, he vows to keep them safe, whatever the consequences.
Trouble in the form of Hallie's deranged ex-husband catches up with them in the sleepy little town, and Chance pulls out all the stops in order to protect the woman and children he has come to love, even if it means sacrificing his own life.
In her latest novel, "The Last Chance Café," author Linda Lael Miller combines an absorbing mystery along with a mature romantic storyline to achieve a fascinating book that will keep readers captivated to the very end. Fans of her romance novels will enjoy the return to Primrose Creek, the fictional town made popular in her series "The Women of Primrose Creek." This time around, it is the descendants of the pioneering families that are featured in the story.
But don't be fooled into thinking this is just another romance novel. The element of danger and surprise that Miller incorporates into this book makes this story a spine-tingling mystery as well. Proof once again that a story can have the best of both worlds, a little thrill and a little chill.

Summary: Heart Pounding
Review: Hallie is on the run with her twin daughters Kiera and Kiley. Hallie is positive her father has been murdered and she is positive her ex-husband, and assistant D.A., had him killed.

Hallie and the twins become stranded in a snow storm in Primrose Creek, Nev. They stumble into the Last Chance Cafe, frozen and covered in snow.

What transpires next is that citizens of Primrose Creek gives shelter, friendship and protection to the disheveled wanders. Hallie's heart is so broken and bruised that it will take a long time for it to mend and heal. It doesn't hurt that there is a handsome cowboy ready to give her and her children a helping hand and the love that they have never had.
This is a sensitive, passionate and heart warming story of second changes. Don't miss one of Miller's best stories.

Summary: A surprisingly emotional read...
Review: Hallie O'Roarke found sanctuary in Primrose Creek after being forced to flee Phoenix in fear for the lives of herself and her twin seven year old daughters. When her stepfather is murdered in his home in what appeared to be an attempted robbery, Hallie is skeptical. Not only was Lou a vetran police officer, but to Hallie, it just didn't seem like something that would happen to him. When she finds evidence that he was murdered due to an investigation he was in the middle of, Hallie knew that she would have to leave town.

Chance Qualtrough felt an electrical charge when he first laid eyes on Hallie O'Roarke. He wants to shake her and hold her at the same time, but he knows the only thing that he can do to earn her trust is keep her daughters safe. Soon, Chance can't imagine letting her or the twins go.

The Last Chance Cafe is a very emotional read about a woman that is on the run and doing everything she can to keep her daughters safe. Not knowing how she's going to keep going on with no money or job, Primrose Creek is a haven that she doesn't want to leave. However, she knows that good things don't last forever and soon her past will catch up with her. The only thing she knows, aside from her fierce desire to keep her daughters safe, Hallie doesn't want to leave Chance and the new love that she has found.

Summary: Great Love Story!!
Review: I really would give this 4 1/2 stars. The story of Hallie and Chance is wonderful. The passion between the two of them smolders and explodes!! And who says a cowboy has to be the aloof type? Chance is caring, giving, generous, and selfless. Not to mention the dream lover. I now know the answer to the question "Where have all the cowboys gone?". They are in Primrose Creek, and Chance is the standard by which they should be judged!!

The modern people of Primrose Creek still possess that timeless quality that helped to build the fictional town during the pioneer days from Women of Primrose Creek. They embrace Hallie and her two precocious twins Kiley and Kiera, even though Hallie possesses a dangerous secret that could bring turmoil and heartache to the close knit community.

The story of Chance and Hallie has romance, adventure, humor, intrigue, and mystery. This is a good book to curl up with on a rainy day and get lost in the mystique of The Last Chance Cafe.

Summary: A wonderful love story????????
Review: I was surprised to read all the good reviews for this book. I was not impressed though I read the entire book. From what I could gather, Hallie wasn't in town long enough to form any great relationships with anybody. It was a bit on the cheesy side. And everything worked out just a little too smoothly all the time. From the moment she walked into the cafe she had a job, a beautiful home to stay in, a decent vehicle to drive and money. Course, she had the perfect kids and everything went along perfectly and the neighbors were instantly all her friends. I didn't feel any real chemistry between the two main characters and I thought the plot had a lot of holes. The big climax with her ex-husband was boring and I thought it was ridiculous when she left. I am a Miller fan, but this just didn't do it for me.

Summary: Feel Good Book
Review: I'm not much of a murder mystery book lover, but I do like books that tend to have a bit of mystery mixed in with a love story. A fluffy book that won't scare the heck out of me! That's exactly what the Last Chance Cafe was...a good love story with a bit of a murder mystery in there.

It is the story of Hallie and her twin daughters. They are on the run from people who murdered her stepfather. Her car breaks down in a snow storm and she finds the Last Chance Cafe...and a wonderful cowboy. The story goes from there...love, trust, murder, and thrills. It's a good, quick read. Especially if you're looking for a light-hearted mystery romance!

Summary: Awful!!
Review: The book was wonderful. It was well written and the characters well developed. I could picture Hallie biting her lip and tossing her hair back as if she were standing before me. Chance is everyone's knight in shining armor. I loved his character.

The story also has intrigue and mystery, which held my interest immensely. I loved the book. Buy it.

Summary: Some are not fortunate enough to have a last Chance
Review: There are some wrong doings dealing with the death of her step-father. The authorities said it was petty theft. A stranger shows up at the funeral telling her that is was murder and tells her there's a box that contains evidence of the fact. When locating the box, Hallie's husband appears demanding the box be turned over to him. She knows he's involved now. She feels the urgency to get out-of-town with the box, so Hallie O'Rourke grabs her 2 girls, jumps in a broken down truck and heads out with no more than the clothes on her back. Hallie ends up in Primrose Creek at The Last Chance Cafe during a snow storm after they have walked several miles. The truck is broke down, there's no money, no plans, and she's got 2 little girls that are hungry and scared.

Chance Qualtrough, single and a local rancher, takes one look at Hallie standing in the door of the cafe and feels the need to "take her under his wing." He offers to help her find a place to stay- thinking of his aunt's vacant house the whole time. The owner of the cafe offers Hallie a job of waitressing. Hallie decides to take both offers so she can "stop for a minute" and think about what her next move will be. And there is something about Chance that tells Hallie to trust hime and allow him to "protect" her and the girls. Instead of a night or 2 of rest and thinking, Hallie's stay turns out to be longer (there's peace here, could this be what she has been for). In the back of her mind she knows that her ex-husband is looking for her- she has something that is wanted by the possible murderer of her loved step-father, something that could ruin a man and career.

Chance has a home but it's lacking love and warmth. He thought he had found it one time, a long time ago, but it turned to someone else. Seeing Hallie and her girls, Chance faces his desire for love and a family. But can he trust Hallie with his heart and can he convince Hallie to trust him with her fears? And will Hallie's ex-husband be able to figure out where she and girls are? How is he involved?

I don't know what I expected- but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a really good book- one that will keep you interested to the end. It's more that a "sweet romance with a little suspence mixed in." Hallie and Chance's relationship touched my heart- their desire is so strong. I really enjoyed it and think you will, too. The ending is really good. I just hate that it took Hallie soooo long. I'll leave it at that for the reader.

Summary: The Last Chance Cafe by Linda Lael Miller
Review: This a a fast and furious read that leaves you spellbound as Hallie O'Rourke and her twin daughters race away from danger after Hallie's stepfather is murdered. Hallie ends up in Primrose Creek after her car breaks down and she and her daughters encounter The Last Chance Cafe during a snowstorm.

Chance Qualtrough, one hunk of a rancher,is concerned for Hallie and her kids and let's her stay in his aunt's house. Something about Chance makes her trust him and this begins one humdinger of story that never lets you go.

Great characters, intense suspense, and a delectible romance. Makes me want to read all the Primrose Creek historicals to find out about the ancestors! Wow, I'd better get busy.

Don't miss this book!
