Rating: Summary: different and not as enjoyable. Review: We use Lifepac for all our subjects and have enjoyed all of them up to this set. Science last year was fun (but not in depth). 3rd grade science, like other Lifepac sets, has 10 workbooks your child works through each day. This book requires lots of experiments, which is good, but they also require much teacher planning (you need to have earthworms, dirt, etc). The experiments are not really spaced out well, so you might have 7 experiments in one week, some ongoing, and your stuck waiting for results to fill in the pages while moving ahead and trying to finish the workbook in a timely manner. The experiments are enjoyable but the charts seem to consume a large amount in a couple of the workbooks. Also, the learning is not very in depth. I would prefer an experiment a week with more learning and writing about each subject. It's frustrating to take the time to follow the steps, and then feel little has been learned that wasn't already known. I find myself supplementing with more in depth material than I would like to, and end up taking quite a bit of time with science everyday. We will try to continue to make do with these books for the school year, but next year, I don't plan on trying lifepac 400 Science. Maybe Abeka.
