Rating: Summary: Serious resource: but only for those who want to learn truth Review: Finally, a sizeable resource that doesn't cater to the liberal agenda to supplement truth with the wisdom of the world. One could even call this software program conservative or "narrow minded", but this shouldn't be an issue since the Bible teaches true followers of Christ to be different, set apart, and peculiar. Hooray for Logos on their inclusion of Dennis Lindsay's books that expose the inherent flaws of evolution and reveal how perilously inconsistent it is to claim to be a Christian and yet hold to Humanistic Darwinian views. Mr Lindsay has a high regard for truth and it shows in these books. Theistic evolutionists and even progressive creationsists will likely have issue with the inclusion and content of these books, but this software resource is for people who want to learn the truth, not the philosophies of men like Darwin. I wish more believers were willing to heed such truth when it is shared. I also wish more believers shared truth in such a diligent manner. Go Dennis... Go Logos... If you want a politically correct resource, this product is probably not for you. I know it is hard to swallow, but Jesus just wasn't PC, he spoke only truth. Repent. Kudos to Logos on the updated search abilities and the immense amount of insight that this resource has to offer. It is expensive, but in reality you get so much more than what you are paying for. Ask for it for your birthday or something. :)
Rating: Summary: Completely Satisfied and Totally Impressed! Review: I have been a user of the Logos software for several years. As a former Wordsearch user, I wanted more "muscle" in my Bible software. As I switched to Logos 2.1, I was not disappointed with the increase in abilities. I was frustrated, however, by the complexity of the interface. When Logos Series X was released, I upgraded directly through Logos to the Scholar's Edition (which I feel is by far the best buy for a pastor or teacher familiar with the original languages). I couldn't be happier with this product! The interface has been completely revised, providing ease of use and intensive search capabilities of all unlocked resources. I am also impressed with the vast number of books that are available now in the Logos format. I see hardbound reference libraries becoming a thing of the past for ministers and teachers. I see electronic, searchable libraries as the wave of the future. For ease of use, depth of resources, and overall value, I know of no other software package on the market that comes close to Logos Series X.

Rating: Summary: The best Bible Software ever! Review: I have managed Christian Bookstores for over 7 years, tried every kind of Bible Software available and nothing can compare for ease of use, value for $, comprehensive searches, and Logos commitment (not to mention great, patient tech support)to always make their product better. You will not be disappointed. Where else can you get 240 books (...) that are totally searchable (...). I'm sure other reviewers will provide you with more technical reasons, but I have not had 1 customer be disappointed with Logos in over 7 years. Try to beat that!
Rating: Summary: Proceed with Caution Review: I love to study the Word of God. I am more amazed by God's Word than the tool itself. The tool is "ok." The customer service with this company is horrible.... I am not exaggerating... Perhaps another company would come along and buy this company out. For the price that you pay for it, suprisingly the customer service is at "level zero." You pay for the product and if the day comes when you need assistance... you are in trouble. They do not return phone calls. They do not return emails. They pretty much just ignore you. I had written letters because there was something buggy going on when I first purchased the software ... and I had paid all this money. The Customer Service "answering machine" (during the day) said that someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours? No one every responded. I sent emails -- no response. There is not a "snowball's chance in hell that I will ever buy their products again." The tool should be more intuitive and easier to navigate. For the amount of money -- there are much better tools that will offer you the knowledge of God's Word with much better service.
Rating: Summary: Logos Series X Scholar's Library Review: The Libronix series is an excellent addition to anyone's Biblical studies software library. Scholar's Library includes all the tools one needs to do scholarly study of the Bible and of its culture. The interface is easy to use and also easy to update. The final joy of the system is the ability to upgrade from and to use titles from Logos 2.x materials. The system has been a joy and a great enhancement to my study.

Rating: Summary: Outstanding Collection of Superior Resources Review: The new "Scholar's Library Series-X" is a quantum leap in the arena of Biblical research on the computer. Several older packages were combined with many new and updated resources to create this one new offering. The result is a quality digital library driven by the most advanced Bible software on the planet. No one, absolutely no one, needs another copy of Matthew Henry's commentary -- abridged or otherwise. And, the Libronix Scholar's Library Series-X ensures the user gets much more than another copy of Matthew Henry. This collection includes numerous English language Bible translations as well as original language Bible study resources in both Greek and Hebrew. Additionally, the collected works of the Ante and Post Nicene fathers adds a wealth of historical material for the not so faint at heart. For clergy -- there is also a superior subset of resources that focus on the ministerial office. These include material relating to ethics, Church growth, finance, meetings, renewal, etc. The new resources for the Scholar's Library (and in fact all of the new Series-X collections) have been reindexed and the old "two-file" system has been replaced with a single file for each resource. The actual engine -- the Libronix Digital Library System is a 32 bit product designed to take advantage of the newest computers coming of age. As such, it is much more than a migration from the old Logos 2.1x 16 bit Library System that has been available for so many years. Also in its favor, the new engine will read all of the older Logos titles, and collections (regardless of the publishing house). Therefore, while the data files for the Word Biblical Commentary from Nelson Publishing have not been reindexed into the Series-X format, the Libronix engine easily reads the older data files. With the new multi-language support available, this software should be a welcome additional for those whose native language is other than American-English. For the serious student of the Bible, and Christianity (not just religiosity) this is a must have collection.
Rating: Summary: An awesome collection BUT... Review: The Scholar's edition is massive but Christian conservative oriented. For example, the best translation of the Tanak {O.T} for me is the Tanakh published by the Jewish Publication Society. Also The Five Book of Moses,Everett Fox, is an excellent read aloud translation of the Torah. Neither of these books comes with any Libronix edition but can be purchased separately from Logos and smoothly integrated within. I did this and use these 2 translations as my primary or default ones for any O.T. passage. I use Christian Bibles for the N.T. So for a modest price, one can add to a huge collection with some of the best current translations of the Tanak. I disagree with the numerous Creationist tracts that come with Libronix. Why not include some of Darwin's works for balance? After all, he started out as a Divinity student and knew how upsetting some of his ideas would be to religious Christians. Despite these reservations, the Scholar's edition is well worth the price and is a great starter for Bible study. Forget the [money]Bible software with their outdated, Public Domain Bibles and coomentaries and get a Libronix at an affordable level. There is more than one Libronix edition. paulbatscha
Rating: Summary: The best so far Review: The Scholars Library (Series X) continues the fine tradition of quality, functionality and useability that they started with Logos Library System. This edition of the Scholars library is built on top of a totally redesigned engine, the Libronix Digital Library System (LDLS). Whereas the previous Scholars library had around 60 books, this new version contains over 200. More bibles, more devotionals, more dictionaries, more everything. Not only that, but all books have been rereleased in a new file format which allows them to be taken advantage of in LDLS. With the Scholars Library edition of LDLS, you get all the addins available with LDLS, including:- Auto-Lookup Verse List Parallel Bible Versions Passage in all Versions Word Study Guide Englishman's Concordance Weights and Measures Copy Bible Verses Prayer List Bible Reading Plan Passage Guide Exegetical Guide Lemma Report (...) Personally, this software has made Bible study easier for me, and given me more time to think about what I'm studying, rather than the mechanics of searching my library for information on the topic of my study. I totally recommend the Scholars Library.
