Review: Lord Burlington: Art, Architecture and Life is an attempt to unravel the life of one of England's most celebrated eighteenth century architects. However, Jane Clark's hypothesis that Burlington was infact a secret Jacobite with links to the exiled Old Pretender is pure rubbish. Clark's chapter, 'Lord Burlington is here', is full of unsupported supposition and amateurish guesswork that is quite frankly bad history.
