Summary: Deeply disturbing
Review: According to Rachel's parents, the God they believe in fore-told and allowed the slaughter of innocents so that His message of love and redemption could be spread around the world. What a disturbing image that creates. It certainly is not a God I care to worship. They claim to quote Rachel's journals, in which they believe she wrote of God's prophecy about her coming death and the death of twelve others. If these are indeed Rachel's journals, it's possible that she was experiencing some type of premonition. How disturbing to think that she did not feel confident enough to tell someone. We cannot speculate about what might have happened, but to know that she kept such feelings to herself begs the question "Why?" Finally, the self-promotion of her parents and people like Bruce Porter at her innocent expense is the most disturbing element of all. Rachel, like the others, did not deserve to die. Neither does she deserve this continuing exploitation by people who love her.

Summary: Inward and Onward
Review: Where do I begin to share my thoughts after reading this most profound tome by Rachel's loving parents and friends? How do I even attempt to feel their loss? And, how, how do I keep my two teenage sons safe?

While taking in "Rachel's Tears" I cried, I smiled, I celebrated this young womans fiercely guided life. As I read her journal entries, gazed upon her sketches, an unanswerable question persisted, "why"? Why would two evil boys do what they did at Columbine in 1999? And if it affects me, a total stranger, as a wrecking ball smashing solidly and squarely into an impenatrable fortress.....how, oh how do they go on?

Tonight we watched 20/20 on T.V. and witnessed some of what they have gone through. We watched as a family. We cried as a family. And we prayed as a family.

We all have certain burdens to bear. Rachel's life was short, but her families memories, their dedication to God, their inner strength will forever remind me not to complain but to sustain.

A powerful read. May God bless and guide us all.

Thank you for your interest & comments--CDS

Summary: Don't Miss The Point!
Review: Some people have objected to calling Rachel Scott a martyr and to the idea that she was killed explicitly for her Christianity. These are reasonable objections to matters that may never be actually proved. But they are also irrelevant in light of the verifiable facts: that Rachel Scott, as her journals reflect, was a true believer, filled with the Holy Spirit, who listened when she was called by God, and dedicated her whole being to God's service and to following the words of Jesus. After she was murdered, some of her writings became public so that all could see her testimony of faith. It should be based on those two facts alone that anyone decides to accept or reject the assertion that God was at work there, and anything else is missing the point. Personally this book struck me like a arrow through the heart and convicted me of my shortcomings in serving God. I believe God set it in my path for that purpose and that He used Rachel Scott (and Rachel's parents) to show me an example of the kind of faith and courage that He would have me live in my daily life. With immense grief and renewed commitment, I felt as if Rachel's tears came through my own eyes. In all eternity, what matters most is not how Rachel or anyone else died, but how they lived. I believe Rachel lived as God would have all of us live, depending on His grace and gifts and power every day, every moment. Go for it!

Summary: Am only halfway through...
Review: From a guy who in a few short months has lost his grandmother, two uncles and his best friend's dad... and a tremendous measure of my faith. When I asked God to please let me find Him again, He placed this book in my path. He spoke with Rachel's words to offer peace, and comfort, and assurance that we have a hope in His promise that He will let us see fruition. Rachel knew something that most Christians in this world -- and I put myself in that category -- have a hard time knowing: that our relationship with Christ is a day-by-day, moment-by-moment thing that is just that: a *relationship* to be cherished and nurtured. Rachel, God bless you and God bless your family. Take care and see you back Home someday, from an admirer of your faith and a brother in Christ :)

Summary: A book both Inspiring and touching
Review: I think that Rachel's tears is one of the best books I have ever read because it is real and it is very inspiring to see the life of such a wonderful (and young) person, and know I have a closer relationship with God this book is a real blessing from God.

Summary: Rachel has intrigued me since April 21th
Review: The moment I saw Rachel's face on the cover of the paper on April 21st, 1999 I knew she was special, someone I wished I had known. I have looked for literature on her since the day I saw that picture. This book is the best insight I have had in her young and wonderful life. Although, I have never met you Rachel you give me hope and inspiration.

Summary: Anyone Could Learn From This Book
Review: This book contains valuable truths that need to be shared. Rachel's journal entries are invaluable to encourage every person who has ever known the personal touch of Jesus and then went through dry times when He seemed distant. The drawings that are so prophetic are an outcry from the heart of God that He so desires to reach this generation of young people with the Truth. This is heart wrenching and soul stirring. I recommend that everyone read it!

Summary: authors/publishers should be ashamed of themselves
Review: I wonder where the scruples are of these people who can put out a book that laughs in the face of truth so blatently? She was not a martyr, noway, nohow, so how can they justify calling her one? It speaks volumes as to the integrity of those individuals involved that they don't mind lying to the public AND using their religion as a ruse to sell books. Everyone is sorry for their loss but it is difficult to maintain a feeling of compassion for one who goes to such extremes of untruth to sell books. They are calling her a martyr based on one persons word WHO WASN'T EVEN THERE! None of the evidence or witness statement back up the claim.

Summary: she was no martyr
Review: Touching but it isn't true. She was no martyr. There was no conversation with the killers before she was shot and they did not target Christians. I for one am sick of these people who make money off the lies about this tragedy. Wasn't it terrible enough without making it something else?
