Summary: This book left me blank........ what can i say?
Review: The book isn't terrible, but reading it right after "Sybil" (a fantastic book), i think, made it seem much worse than it probably is. It was definitely poorly written. By the time you finish a chapter, you're thinking, "What was this chapter about again?". This, in addition to poor transitions and terrible character introduction, definitely left me confused at times. I know... I know... it was written by "the voices" within Truddi Chase, but come on... why didn't anyone edit it?? Perhaps the manuscripts could have been rearranged in a manner that could make the story more easily understood. i don't know. In comparison to "Sybil", it was just boring. However, if you would like to learn about an unconventional case of dissociative identity disorder, I would recommend reading this book because Truddi's case is much different than that of Sybil, Billy Millligan or Eve's.

Summary: Terrifying harrowing and ultimately inspiring
Review: This is definately one of the most powerful books I've ever read. True story of a woman who developed 92 distinct personalities as a result of the horrific incest and physical torture she suffered throughout her childhood since the age of 2. Written by the woman herself in the voices of her various "troops". As, with the help of her therapist, she slowly uncovers the nightmare of her childhood. A very harrowing book, not for the timid, but also inspiring because of the woman's incredible courage and the fascinating coping mechanism she developed to cope with unimaginable horror.

Summary: If I could give it 0 stars, I would
Review: First off, I am sick and tired of people comparing schizophrenia and MPD. Schizophrenia is a genetic disorder, and you don't get it by being abused. It is also a REAL disorder, unlike MPD, which is a load of bunk. If you do about 5 seconds of research, you'll find out that nearly all horrific events that happen in childhood are burned into a child's memory, not conveniently "repressed". That said, this book's main problem is that it is boring and poorly written. Your money would be better spent on "When the Bough Breaks", a fantasy novel w/a main character who suffers from MPD, but at least doesn't try to take itself as seriously as this peice of claptrap.

Run, don't walk, away from this stinker. It's right up there with all those books written in the 70's about the pernicious "influence" of Satanism and witchcraft.

Summary: Interesting, but confusing!
Review: This book was very confusing for me at times. However, I felt so bad for the poor victim. I do not have multiple personalities, so perhaps that it why I had such a difficult time following the story. This book is certainly worth reading, nonetheless I gave it three stars due to confusion following the "troops"( Trudi's personalities) dialogue.
