Summary: Oh Please!
Review: To "how much misleading do americans need," your poor English gives you away as a non-native speaker, so don't try to pass yourself off as something you're not. About the book... I've found all of Sasson's books to be not only great reads, but very informative. Knowing many Gulf and Arab women in general, I find that what is described is pretty close to the truth that my friends tell me about. Stranger than fiction.

Summary: Keeping contact with my readers...
Review: To the readers of the Sultana trilogy: I would like to thank you all for your faithful following of the Sultana story. I feel quite honored to be the writer of this very brave Princess' life story. And, yes, to the question asked: Desert Royal is the British edition of the American edition: Princess Sultana's Circle. So, they are one and the same. These books were published in a number of countries and often times the publisher chooses a different title for the book to suit their audience.

And, to the readers who write that this story could not be true, I can only say that not only is Sultana's story true, but I myself know many other stories just as horrific for I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 12 years. I am not someone who just popped in the country for a few months and decided to write a book. And, anyone who actually lived in Saudi Arabia will have a few stories of their own. And, to the people who are from the area who say they never heard of "Prince Kareem," etc., surely you know that the actual names of the people in the book could not be used? They would all be punished!

Anyway, there is much to celebrate about Saudi culture, but the one big black mark against Saudi culture is their treatment of women. Every man on earth has a mother, and most men have wives and daughters. Surely if you love the females in your family you will strive for each of them to have the freedom of personal choice. So many men cannot bear to lose control (yes, this is a problem in the West, also) that they inflict terrible acts upon their women to keep them in line. It is time for this outrage to STOP! And, in the book, it is stated many times, that this is not an attack on Islam, it is an attack on men who use their faith to keep their women in line! So, take that!

Anyhow, I'm getting upset so I'll sign off for now and once again, thanks to the readers who really care about these women as they need us to carry the torch of justice on their behalf...

Thanks for your time.... Jean Sasson

Summary: "Desert Royal" an opposition
Review: Upon reading "Desert Royal" I as a female Saudi student in the US, claim that this tale is but a mockery of a misrepresented society. Ninety percent of the information presented here is not based on reliable sources. It is rather a unilateral depiction of a troubled alcoholic mother who confides in Sasson as a "close" friend. First, how do we know that Sultana really exists? Even if she does, Sasson translates the simple words of Sultana into an entire best-selling drama. This work falls short in providing accurate facts, sources, and unbiased illustration of a rich Middle Eastern culture. Unfortunately, the space provided for this review is insufficient to fully cover the essential points refuting this book, so I welcome any comments, questions on my email address Reemksa@hotmail.com. Thank you

Review: You also have to remember that this is a life story, I don't think when someone tells there life experience that it means that everyones life will be the same, just like we can't generalized everyone in a country or religion by only one experience.
