Summary: Must reading for anyone involved with inmate rehabilitation
Review: Although written by a Chaplain, George Castillo does not overwhelm his readers with fire and brimstone. Instead, he simply, but powerfully demonstrates exceptional qualities and principles to live by. By no means does he play life safe. The lessons learned through George's trials and tribulations working within the prison system, are valuable to those of us volunteering and working to help inmates become productive members of society. I plan to use an excerpt from this book for the upcoming book, "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul." For someone who was once labeled as "untrainable," through this excellent work and his extraordinary life, George certainly proved that label wrong. This book is highly informative and interesting. I highly recommended it.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: Chaplain George Castillo is my grand-uncle. I think the book is very inspirational. Until I read the book, I didn't know he did such great work in the prisons. He's an inspiration to not only the prisoners and their families, but an inspiration to us all.

Summary: A REAL PAGE TURNER
Review: Don't start this book unless you have a cup of coffee by your side, and all night to read, because you won't be able to place this book down. Chaplain Castiilo gives a heart rendering account of life on the other side of prison bars. The book is outstandingly well written, spellbinding, and thought provoking. Chaplain Castillo is candid, and insightful in his description of life as many of us have not experienced. Whether you have a loved one in prison, know someone who has been there, or neither of the above, you will find My life Between the Cross and the Bars to be well worth your time. I highly recommend it!! Happy reading.

Summary: Touches the Heart and Soul
Review: George shared from the heart in this wonderful book about ministering to inmates as a chaplain. He also includes some of the politics that go with working within the system, We were so touched by his stories that we included his work in "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" and "Serving Time, Serving Others: Acts of Kindness by Inmates, Prison Staff, Victims, and Volunteers."

Summary: A Life's Journey in Faith
Review: I recommend Reverend Costillo's book, My Life between The Cross and the Bars, to people of all ages and walks of life. His book is very imformative about his years of prison ministry, and his ideas on prison reform very worthy of consideration. But even more than that, the story of his life, his never wavering journey in faith, and his dedication to serve and minister make the book a very inspiring read. I found the book easy reading and hard to put down. It is sincere and heartwarming.

Summary: Magnificent! This book is "Oprah" material!
Review: I would love for the author of this great work to give a talk to my local civic organization. He has profound insight into the criminal justice system, and unique, yet practical, ideas on how to make it better. This book is worthy of being Oprah's Book of the month!
