Rating: Summary: My Bloody Life Review:
"My Bloody Life"
Imagine getting raped by an cousin at the age of 5 years old. It sounds like a
horrible experience. This experience happened to Reymundo Sanchez, "My Bloody
Life". It is a book that talks about the real life of a Latin King who struggles through life,
and his only way out to his problems is the cruel life of a gangster. Reymundo Sanchez's
book, My Bloody Life, I would rate as 4 star because the writer captures my attention,
the writting is very easy to read and understand. Reymundo Sanchez is a young gang
member who goes through a lot of different things in life. One of the things was that at
the age of 5 years old, he got rape by his cousin. He also had an abusive mother and a
stepfather. He had to live on his own at the age of thirteen. Lacking the love of his
parents, the only solution to his problems was drugs, sex, and gangs. This causes him to
have a "bloody life". He is initited into the Latin King at the age of fourteen. Well known as Lil' Loco. Some of the strengths this book has is based on a true story. The weaknesses are that some of the things in the book seem to be extravagant. Others may
see the book as interesting because they will learn something.
The strenghts of this book are that a lot of young people would love to read the
book because some things might releate to them. I know a lot of teenagers went
through some of the things that Lil'Loco went thru. Some people like non-fiction books.
People are going to find this book interesting because it was based on a true story. The
story mirrors current reality nowadays. The thing that captures my attention is
when Lil'Loco say's; "Nine days of unconsciousness in a coma caused by hate and
ignorance. I almost died at fourteen. At an age when I should have been a experiencing
the joys of being a teenager. I was lost with no safer days in sight. Those who came to
my side and supported me were lost themselves. Although they meant well, they came
talking only about revenge. It was the only encouragement I came to know." A lot of
people will learn something bout what happened to Reymundo Sanchez.
What I like about this book is that it has a lot of good details and lot of different
things that makes this story interesting. This book could make the reader to have an
emotional reaction example when Lil' Loco got beat up by his step-father. "I heard pedro
(stepfather) come in. Before I could react, I felt a sharp pain across my back, and then
again, and again. I fell on the floor screaming and crying in pain. I bagged my mother to
stop him from beating me. My dear mother responded by kicking me and whipping me with an extension cord. She pick me up by the hair and told me she was goin to kill me."
The weaknesses are that some of the thing the author wrote seem to be
extravagant and are probally not true. At first, It is interesting, but then towards the end it
gets king of boring because the authors talks about he same things over and over again.
Sex, gangs, streets, murder, and drugs. Another weakness this book might have is that
not everyone is able to read it because it is inappropriate for children due to violent
contant. Other than that I found it intersting.
I recomend this book because it is very interesting. The writting is very descriptive. A reader will learn how to appreciate life and have a better idea of what path to choose in life. Some people might like it better because it is based on a true story. The author of this book talks about his own life. Lil' Loco talks about the gangs that exist all around the world and the consiquences of being a member of one. By: Cirina Waukegan, IL
Rating: Summary: from a real king Review: i just completed my bloody life and have just finished once a king always a king....i loved both books and being a king in my young days i know what king lil loco speaks on. i cannot visualize the fatal abuse he sustained as a youngster...but i can relate to his views on a society dominated by acts of violence and insanity...i would love to see the latin kings nation become what they used to be and see latinos across the world flourish and become better people in todays society. To me reading the book while on a 3 year tour in the middle east made me realize that all good things come to those who will go the distance and become what their environment inhibits for them to survive.Reymundo Sanchez....whoever you are...wherever you are...always remember where you came from pana...and no matter what happens...its in your blood, Amor De Rey!!!!!\^/\^/360

Rating: Summary: Page Turner... Review: I thought this book was great! I for one am not the type to read a book for fun.I found myself sitting for long periods of time reading and the ending wasn't that far from the beginning. Throughout this book you feel a sense of connection with the author. At times you feel like grabbing him by the throat, but it's just that emotional bond that's built throughtout pages and pages of life as a Latin King. you feel his pain and his regret for actions that you wish could be taken back!
Rating: Summary: PARENTAL DIRECTION IS EVERYTHING Review: Fifty-five years ago I got my first job after leaving the military service working in the reformatory in Monroe, WA. At that time I formulated my opinion that about 90% of the inmates were there due to their parents. This book has reinforced that opinion 55 years later...and nothing has changed except there are more people incarcerated today than then. This book is an eye-opener about a life/society that I knew nothing about. It is about extreme violence, heavy drugs and booze, and sexual activity non stop. It is about how you can waste your life if you participate. 'Tis hard to believe the author did not yet attend college when he wrote this as the quality of writing is very good. You learn a lot about gangs by reading this. To quote on page 229: "Adults in the neighborhood contributed to the loss of a generation by turning their backs and never seeing anything...didn't bother to help those who did try to stop the violence. Both a retired police officer and a Chicago Transit Authority bus driver who lived in the neighborhood directly contributed to gang activity. They would buy guns, sell them to us for a profit, and then report them stolen."
You will understand why a child or a bystander is killed in a drive by shooting when you read this interesting book.
