Rating: Summary: Should have been advertised as fiction Review: A total whitewash...a world as Michael Jackson thinks it should be.
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: Before reading this book I had never read a book in one day. I couldn't put it down. He talks about his childhood, his strict father, his love for children and nature, the success of Thriller, his relationships with Tatum O'Neal, Brooke Shields and Diana Ross. (He refers to Diana as his lover, sister and mother). I am a big MJ fan so I may be a little biased. If you want to know the truth about Michael Jackson read this book.
Rating: Summary: Moonwalk Review: For about a month now, I have been reading a book called Moonwalk. This is an autobiography written by the moonwalker himself, Michael Jackson. This book is about his rise to fame. It starts out about him as a little kid just trying to be in the Jackson five. This it ventures to the Jackson five before they made it big trying to do as may gigs as they can. Later on it goes on to his teenager years when Michael was going through a tough time of puberty and bad acne. And later it goes on about Michael's music and his struggle to make the perfect album. Did he make the perfect album you ask? And if he did, how many great albums did he make? Well if you want to know that, I suggest you read this terrific book and find out yourself
I have a so-so opinion on this book. It was a cool book being that it was Michael Jackson and that I love him (not in a gay way of course). And in being that I read this book not because it was written well, but because it was about my idol Michael Jackson. Now don't get me wrong. This was not a horribly written book. It was ok for a first time writer. Maybe if he was a real writer, maybe it would have been written better because, he could probably explain himself better and put sentences better together. But because of this he doesn't explain situations as well as he could. But there are some positives from all this work. This book does some good for me because it talks from a first person experience. This means it's his experiences so he has the best knowledge of it and can explain exactly how he felt. So, all in all, this was an ok book and I would recommend this to anyone who loves Michael Jackson like me (again of course not in a gay way
Rating: Summary: A great look into the mind of MJ... Review: I'm very fortunate that my mother was a big fan of MJ back when this book came out. I decided to read it for a report that I was doing on the King of Pop in my dance class. I'm so glad that I did. Michael is openly honest in this book and it gives you a very good idea of what it might be like to have lived the life he has. Of course, this was written before either of his marriages or the incident with the 13 year old. But it still is a very good read. It's rather simple and easy, which makes it quite nice compared to some of the autobiographies that you read nowadays. All in all, a very pleasent reading and highly recommended, especially for those who think that Michael is just some wierdo, eccentric person. You might be surprised.
Rating: Summary: Michael Jackson is to music what Ali is to boxing - #1 Review: I've always wanted to just sit down and speak with Michael Jackson to find out what kind of person he is. What makes him tick? What does he think of the media who's always riding him about his personal life? What about the rumors and myths such as him buying the elephant man's bones and sleeping in an machine. This book gives clear insight on the life of Michael Jackson through the eyes of Michael Jackson (not the press or the National Inquirer or any other media outlet). If you find this book, treasure it - I absolutely love autobiographies because you'll never here a story told from the view of that individual unless you hear it directly from him or her. I've read it once and I will read "Moonwalk" again! ERIC
Rating: Summary: The most mysterious man sheds a little light Review: If you want to know something about anybody it seems their account would be preferable to another biographer. "Moonwalker" is authored by the man everyone desires to learn about. For this reason alone it deserves to be read by any Michael Jackson fan. It does a great job revealing the real Michael Jackson, and it's the closest any of his fans will ever get to actually talking to him. The only thing that degrades this book is the simplicity in which it is written (I read this 200+ page book in 4 days), I would have been delighted if Michael chose to write with a little more inventiveness and creative zest, something I'm sure he is capable of; perhaps not now, but then in 1988.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE for every MJ fan! Review: If you've ever wondered about the early years of Michael's life, this book is for you. Written by Mike himself, the book goes into details about his childhood, the way to success with Jackson 5, the beginning of his solo career and the stories behind his famous songs like "Billie Jean". The only bad thing is that it's too short. It made me want more. I hope a follow-up will be written.
Rating: Summary: What do we REALLY know about MJ? This book will tell you... Review: Okay, we all may know what Michael Jackson is all about these days. We know that he dangled his youngest child over a balcony in Germany, he has totally altered his face since the earlier days, and yes, his skin is currently white, but wait! Stop there for just a second.Go back to the year 1988. Michael Jackson is still capitalizing on the success of his first two major-label albums and has just released his third album, Bad. He is wondering what's next for him. He decides to write a tell-all autobiography, explaining his past, present, and future in music and the entertainment business. He also explains his love life, his ability to come up with extraordiary music, short films, and even dance moves, and also tries to clear up some of the nasty rumors that have since plagued his career. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the single greatest autobiography I have ever read in my life! Not only does Michael express his feelings about music, children, and personal life, but he also displays true detail and emotion within every single sentence. If you are a die-hard Michael Jackson fan, you will really want this book! No matter what anybody will ever say about him, Michael Jackson is, has been, and always will be the greatest musical artist in the history of this world!
Rating: Summary: A Must Have! Review: There is so much that has gone on in Michael Jacksons life it seems impossible for him to write it all down in a book and the fact that Michael still wishes to keep his privacy, it seems like Michael has only expressed the bare minimum of himself in order for him to keep some of his privacy. Even his family members have said that the book is cold and expresses little about Michael. The Magic and the madness is a great book telling the hidden facts about Michael and his family that he wishes to keep hidden. He often tell us something but stops and does not tell us why it happened or how he felt about it happening and being such an emotional person i am sure he was deffinatly not as happy and understanding about everything and everyone who has passed through his career.
