Summary: FASCINATING READ!!
Review: All in all I have to say the book was excellent. Contrary to what some readers have claimed, this book DOES add some new insights on the Kennedy's. Many argue against the truth and merit of this book, but I say those people are the ones who don't wish to have their illusions about the Kennedy women dashed. Many of the facts included in the book can be easily verified. In fact I admire Taraborrelli for taking many delicate issues and disussing them skillfully and in a way that isn't offensive. IN response to a specific comment made by a reader, Taraborrelli never said Jackie was jealous. He said she got fed up because she realized what a loose cannon Marilyn really was and how serious the situation could actually get. Make sure you know the difference.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: As someone who's read numerous books on the Kennedy's, I can honestly say that this is a great read. There are so many new and previously unknown things revealed, that I just couldn't put it down. (I read it in 3 days.) One thing that I really liked about this book is that it reads almost like a novel, which (for me) is very appealing and makes for an easier read. Joan has always been of great interest to me, simply because she wasn't in the spotlight and wasn't publicized nearly as much as her famous sisters-in-law were. Alot of things about her life, her marriage, her relationship with the Kennedy family, and especially with Jackie and Ethel were revealed. Joan had a very sad life while in the Kennedy clan, and after finishing the book, I found myself feeling very sorry for her. Ted Kennedy was put into a completely new light. ("The Senator", by Richard Burke, doesn't begin to delve into the marital relationship he and Joan shared, possibly because the author was Ted's former assistant.) Anyone who's ever read anything about Jackie and Ethel are familiar with their personalities, but the complex nature of their relationship has never been clearly defined, until now, which alone makes it worth the read. There are many new, fresh, and exciting revelations in this book, and, as a Kennedy expert (practically!), I recommend it to anyone interested in these three fascinating women.

Summary: Best book on the subjects...
Review: Excellent book on "the women of Camelot." Extremely detailed, and the best book so far on the three women that I've ever read.

Summary: Rehashed From What?
Review: I don't understand how anyone can call this book a complete re-hash when the subject of the three wives and their relationship to each other has never before been written about. Re-hashed from what? Everything in this book was new to me, and I have read at least 50 Kennedy books. I enjoyed the author's take on this subject and the way he presented each woman with such great affection. Joan is the real star of this book. When have you ever read anything about Joan Kennedy? I believe there was a book written by her secretary maybe ten years ago, but Jackie, Ethel, Joan really tells the story of how she overcame a bad marriage and alcohol problem to become the strong and amazing woman she is today. Rehash? If it is, then I must have missed all of the other books about the Kennedy wives. I only know of one related subject, the Kennedy Women, and that book was about all of the Kennedy women throughout history and devoted maybe three pages to Joan. So, I highly recommend this book, Jackie, Ethel, Joan, to anyone who wants an informative and fair read about these three powerful ladies.

Summary: This book is fantastic
Review: I loved this book. If you are really interested in learning about the Kennedys like I am, you will enjoy it. I have read about Jackie alot, but I really enjoyed reading about Ethel and Joan. Their are tons of family secret type things that are really unbelievable! I read it on a summer vacation and it was great beach reading. :)

Summary: Jackie, Ethel, Joan
Review: I think the whole point of this book is that it flies in the face of everything that has been previously reported about the Kennedys, which is why I enjoyed it. It shows them as real people, not as legends. To think that Jackie Kennedy did not care about any of her husband's lovers it to think that she was not a flesh-and-blood woman. Of course she cared! What spouse wouldn't. That's why I like Taraborrelli's book; it humanizes these people. To me, it's clear where all of the conversations came from. Just read the source notes! My favorite parts of this book were the ones having to do with Joan's dealing with alcoholism. Having the disease in my family, I related easily to her challenge, and all of it was depicted by the author in a realistic and honest way. I'm giving "Jackie, Ethel, Joan" only four stars instead of five for one reason ... too much Marilyn Monroe. Even though I believe she was a thorn in Jackie's side, there's just too much about it. Other than that, a great book...

Summary: Very Interesting Book
Review: I'm a fourteen-year-old student living in Baltimore, Maryland and decided to read this book for a book report I had to do for school. I thought it was very interesting to read about the women in the Kennedy family, instead of the men. The writer told his story in a great way. None of it was boring. I learned about the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs, the assassinations of Bobby and John, the Chapaquidick accident and much more ... and all from the side of Jackie, Ethel and Joan which made it very interesting to me and also to my mother who remembers some of it. I also learned a lot of information about Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Gloria Swanson and other movie stars I didn't know too much about because they are all dead today. I think the writer of this book did a lot of studying and worked hard to make his book true. I would tell anyone who asks that they should read Jackie, Ethel and Joan right away.

Summary: DELICIOUS DISH DELICIOUSLY READ
Review: Just when we thought we knew all there was to know about the Kennedy clan Taraborrelli proves we didn't. Of course, much of what we now discover reads like a tabloid tell-all.

These women had nothing in common save for their last name - soignee Jackie wasn't about to get on a touch football field with athletic Ethel. Shy, later alcoholic Joan, was sandwiched between the two of them.

History? No. Tawdry tattled tales? Yes. If gossip is your meat, it doesn't get any juicier than this - deliciously read by Beth Fowler.

Summary: READ THIS BOOK!!!
Review: The virtue of JACKIE ETHEL JOAN is the information it provides on the latter two woman. These three brides of Joseph and Rose Kennedy's surviving sons all inherited lives far from the mundane when they married their husbands.

Unlike the more famous--and justifiably revered--Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, Robert's wife, Ethel, and Edward's first wife, Joan, are far less well-known. Author Randy Taraborrelli provides valuable insight into their characters for admirers of the Kennedy clan.

Joan's story is particularly touching, and not well-understood. Readers with a deep interest in the Kennedys will find JACKIE ETHEL JOAN to be worthwhile reading.
