Summary: Joy to read this book
Review: Congratulations, A reflective autobiography with some depth and truth. Before reading Patti's, I read Aretha's, which I ultimately felt like tossing in the middle of the street! Great job! I thought the book was very inviting to the personal side of Patti. I have always admired how forthcoming she has been with the public in relation to her late sisters. This book can truly encourage one to live life, as well as love and appreciate life.
However, there are a few things I would like to clear up, which I found inaccurate or inappropriate. The Jackie Wilson episode I found rather distasteful, particularly since he is not around to defend himself(it was o.k. to slander Al Green). Also, as I had to do with Gladys in her book, I need to clarify a few inaccurate points you raised in your book. In reading your relationship with Atlantic Records in the 1960's, one is left with the impression your group wasn't given a fair shot due to the success of Aretha. Well, that's not totally true, since you were with the label two years before she signed on. It just wasn't your time yet! Now is your time. You sound greater and look more beautiful than ever. You have a wonderful spirit in which people adore you far and near. You are truly a blessing. Wonderful job.

Summary: Excellent, and intriguing
Review: Don't Block the Blessings is an excellent book. When I began to read the first couple of words, I knew that this would be one book that I would not be able to put down. I often found myself reading the book while taking tests, taking a bath, while exercising, and sometimes while riding in the car. I think that the reason it caught my attention was because some of the issues that Mrs. LaBelle faced, I have gone through also. Although I am only sixteen years old, I have been in similar situations. Like Patti, I have often feared death, and I let that bother me for so long. I have lost an aunt, tragically, and me not being able to say to her what I needed to say still haunts me. After reading the book, I've learned to deal with my problems, as did Patti. I know Mrs. LaBelle will remain a true inspiration in my life because through her book, and through God, she has helped me to learn to never block the blessings. I believe that if America were to live by this motto, it would be a much better place. We need more people , like Mrs. Patti LaBelle, to speak out and help make this world a better haven. I commend her and may God continously bless her. I will remain her number one fan!!!

Summary: Don't Block the Blessings: Revelations of a Lifetime
Review: I loved this book! Each time I starting reading, I found that I just couldn't put it down. It mesmerized me, the way the author told her story. The fact that it was a true story made me want to read more. This book made me forget everything that was happening around me and allowed me to enjoy reading again. I recommend this book to anyone that feels that their life is just too stressful. Reading this book will relieve your stress and help you to realize that all those "not so enjoyable" moments in life are a blessing.

Summary: Inspirational, motivational, tear-jerking best-seller
Review: Patti is truly a gem to be cherished. She is truly a living testimony.Through the tears and the pain, heartache and betrayal, Patti rises above it all,to show that there is gold at the end of the rainbow of life. This book is no less than remarkable, compelling, and exceptional. As you read, it leaves you, not only not wanting to put it down, but selfishly wishing for a sequel. Patti's life has only just begun, and through "Don't Block The Blessings: Revelations of a Lifetime," Patti shows us, without reservation, that we can truly overcome anything, as long as we don't block the blessings. Everything in life happens for a reason, and if you learn from each life's experience, you will transcend and begin to appreciate people, as well as yourself, just don't block the blessing.

Summary: Dont' Block the Blessings Revelations Of A Lifetime
Review: Patti LaBelle did a great thing by selecting Laura Randolph now Lancaster to convey her life to the world. When you pick up Ebony magazine, the first article you read is "Sisterspeak." She definitely has a writing style that keep you subscribing or buying one off the magazine stands. Yeah, you read the other articles, but hers is definitely the first article you read. I would have bought the book regardless of whomever. Patti's life story was icing on the cake.

I have read the life stories of many, but none so captivating and heartfelt. She made me say, "Patti, Patti! I could not read fast enough and was disappointed when I finished - I know this good thing had to come to an end, but I was addicted to the story.

We all know Patti can blow. She is the best performer I have seen. When you pay you for a concert, you don't always get your monies worth, but with Patti you are guaranteed.

This book is a guarantee, just like her performances. Why do you think she is always on anything Essence magazine is doing?

Summary: What a blessing to read!
Review: Patty LaBelle is amazing. She has an incredible voice, a career full of ups and downs, and can bring down the house in concert. This book is just another triumph for a lady who deserves all the accolades she receives. With absolute honesty, she reveals so much about her life--from sexual abuse to the fear of dying of cancer like her sisters and good friend--you feel that Ms. LaBelle has given you all that she can. Throughout her life, she has faced a good deal of challenges but has emerged with a positive attitude about life and can still entertain with the best of them. I have seen her in concert 3 times and she blew me away each time. This book does the same. After reading the dismal biography of Aretha Franklin (From the Roots), I realized what a gem this is. If you wanna read a really good book about an incredible entertainer, give this one a go. Its worth every penny!
