Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Superficial History
Review: You will learn very little about Zhukov upon reading this book. The majority of the work is merely a brief summary of the war on the Eastern front 1941-45. Any detailed descriptions of Zhukov and his life are confined to his early years leading up the Russian Revolution of 1917. There is no insight into his methods of waging war, his mind, his strategies or what moulded his thinking on waging war. There is not even reasoned assessment of Zhukov the soldier at the end of the book. At times one wonders whether this is a biography or merely another potted history of the war on the Eastern Front. There are passing references to greater works by John Ericson and William Spahr amongst others. You will find nothing new or enlightning here. Rather read, Otto Preston Chaney or William Spahr.
