Summary: Empowering Women
Review: After reading this book, I was inspired to go to workshop with Mother Clare Watts. I am waking up to the knowing that I can be a mother, have a career and have a spiritual life as well. I am on a path to healing because of Mother Clare's generous sharing of her life and her spiritual path.
God Bless Mother Clare Watts

Summary: Truth Sets You Free - Truth Does Not Bind You
Review: I purchased this book in the hope that I would read something different than what is currently in the news regarding the Order of Christ Sophia. It seems that much of what has been written is true so if you want to know what you will have to give up to join them read this book.

This book was disappointing and a sad read. While the initial personal journey was inspiring, the rest remains highly questionable. This is a case of the blind leading the blind. Constant references to the "teacher" make me question the relationship of the co-directors. It appears that the author is mesmerized - in the spiritual world this is the first sign of a bad teacher.

The Spiritual Path is about the teaching, not the teacher. Assertions that one must take vows to an order and be obedient to the teacher to become enlightened, constitute dogmas that are in the process, thank God, of being gradually dismissed in the general population of today of even the Catholic Church. Having been on the path for over 30 years, I can assure you the kingdom is within and vows of obedience to a teacher and an order are a thing of the past. My concern is for the young who do not know any better. The system of obedience to one's teacher has proven unworkable and due to that system many suffered. Obedience to one's teacher conflicts with obedience to one's self and contradicts the purpose of the spiritual journey which is to have a relationship with God and sets up the circumstances where one is in constant mental and emotional conflict. No reputable teacher of today who is truly enlightened would ask such a thing. The job of a spiritual teacher is to help another find the God within, not obey a god without. Jesus taught us to love God first and when we pray he said Pray to the Father which is in Heaven.

The order as described sets up the circumstance where one learns, but what does one learn? I can tell you it is a painful journey and rampant with opportunities to pierce the veil of illusion - then what? For more information and before you waste your money, see their homepage, then investigate. Instead read somthing inspriting perhaps of the Dalai Lama, Emerson, or if you are looking for Christian reading, The Book of Mystical Chapters by John Anthony McGuckin: wonderful Zen like Meditations.

For young people it may be your Mom and/or Dad are on a spiritual path. If you are seeking a spiritual teacher and your folks are on the spiritual path let them help you find a reputable path. If someone is asking for vows of obedience I can guarantee you, they don't know a thing worth knowing. The kingdom is within and a good teacher is a guide - not a god.

Summary: Practical spirituality for real people
Review: It was a delight to read Mother Clare's story. She is a real woman who has lived a full life in the world (mother, wife, career woman) while at the same time seeking and finding a true spiritual path, with the teachings and initiations we commonly associate only with Eastern monastic traditions. She describes all the steps of her search and progress along the path, all the way to spiritual mastery. She makes it seem like a possible journey for those of us who live an ordinary Western life.

The book is highly readable, entertaining, practical and believable, and it's not only for women. Mother Clare is a person you'll want to meet.

Summary: The Spiritual Path in Clear Language
Review: Mother Clare presents the spiritual path to union with the Divine in clear language which takes the mystery out of the process of spiritual development. After having been a seeker for many years in spiritual traditions from around the world, this refreshing memoir/teaching laid out plainly how one could move from their preseent level of consciousness to the height of self-realization. Mother Clare's story gives hope to those who live fully in the modern world but still have uniting with God as their soul's desire.

Summary: Inspirational and Empowering
Review: Mother Clare's book is a joy to read, her life is filled with adventure and devotion to seeking truth and refinement of her self and her relationship with God. She has experienced what many people hope for. This book has a great balance of true stories with Teachings of Christian Mysicism. The teachings are similar in style, truth and purity to Living Buddha, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Han, in that it is simple to read and life changing at the same time.

I recommend this book for everyone, seekers and non seekers. I thoroughly enjoyed it as it broadened my perpective about Love and relationships with people and with God.

I hope everyone who reads this will enjoy it as much as I did.

Summary: spiritual hope for a modern mother
Review: This book is about the spiritual quest of a woman living a modern life in the western world. The thing I like most about it is that, even though some of her story seems more adventurous than that of the average woman, her life seems real and her seeking and finding seem real. I felt totally encouraged by the fact that she was seeking, in a very serious way, a spiritual path and life that would be as real and meaningful as the ones we read about in novels (like Sidhartha),
and that she found one that was real and transformative and all the while she was living a regular life as a wife, mother, and career woman. I was especially surprised and delighted to read that what she found was in the Christian tradition, which is the last place I would have expected it to be.
This book is good because it not only tells the author's own story, but it also contains some of the teachings of the path she found, which show its relevance and applicability to real life, not just lofty spiritual ideas.
It's a quick read, entertaining, enlightening, and holds out a hopeful possibility that there actually is a genuine spiritual path that is for people with regular lives.

Summary: Substantive and Sublime
Review: This book moved me more than words can describe. While reading it I shed tears of sorrow, gratitude, and joy. The way in which Mother Clare Watts freely shares her life and the lessons she learned is an inspiration to those seeking spiritual growth. Her experiences and insights are surprisingly applicable to my own life. Mother Clare reminds us of what seems long forgotten, that the wish to know God, to love God, to be loved by God is granted to all souls who seek.

Summary: SUCH A BLESSING!!!
Review: What a refreshing read! So positive and energizing to read about a woman doing all the things that Mother Clare has done -- and so empowering. I love how she takes us through her spiritual journey. Although I haven't had nearly as many experiences as she has had, I also have been seeking and it was very inspiring to read how she kept searching for a teacher until she found one. I could feel her longing and also her relief upon finding a real teacher. I didn't even know that having a teacher was a possibility! It gives me hope. I also liked how the book is written -- a personal story and then a spiritual lesson, very effective in highlighting and understanding the lesson. A great book for those interested in God, the Divine, growing and developing spiritually, and for those seeking a teacher.
