Rating: Summary: An adventure filled with intimacy, love, survival and hope Review: I really enjoyed this book not only because of the author's harrowing account of her indurance and survival at sea accompanied by her profound loss and grief, but also because it gives an interesting account of her sailing life leading up to that point, together with an honest and intimate rememberence of her relationship and love she shared with her fiance - very personal and reflective. I also enjoyed reading about the friends, lifestyle and beauty of French Polynesia which only added to the richness of the story. A fast read that kept my attention. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A Woman's Adventure Review: Red Sky in Mourning was a refreshing adventure story told by a strong, smart woman. Tami Oldham-Ashcraft wasn't just a passive follower in her voyage, she was an active participant. Tami had the knowledge and strength to save herself, when many others would have perished. While she is very strong and independent, the book is also very romantic. This book is an excellent read for women of all ages and walks of life.
Rating: Summary: great story, monotone audio Review: This is an amazing tale, fascinating to sailors or non-sailors. The author's honesty is compelling, but the audio version might have been better off in the hands of a professional reader or actress who could bring it to life. My husband and I really love the story, but we had to turn off tape 3 today because the monotone in the reader's voice was lulling us to sleep as we drove along the highway, leading to our own potential disaster. Great story, though. She is one tough cookie and a testimony to perserverence and faith in God.
