Rating: Summary: The ugly Truth Review: Any Teenager should have read this book or at least have seen the movie. This is not a fictional Story, it's the ugly Truth that most people don't want to know. Instead of pointing the Finger at the Addicts, people should get a bare impression of what they go through everyday and how easy it is to become an addict. For me, the most shocking thing about this book was, that if I would have been in that scene (Berlin 70's), I would surely also have become a junkie. This book should be read in every school, it would be actually something that we could LEARN from. Although it is certainly not a listening pleasure, everyone that is barely interested on what can go wrong should read it.
Rating: Summary: Horrible and sad Review: I first saw the movie version of this book about 10 years ago. I was stunned and I had to read the book. After much searching and alot of trouble I found it at a used bookstore. The search was worth it. The book takes the reader deeper into Berlin's underworld and truly exposes the heroin lifestyle for what it is, a nightmare. i also recommend the book Panic In Needle Park, if you can find it. ...
Rating: Summary: Review from Australia Review: I have read this book on several occassions and I still find it shocking even as a 34 year old.I think this book should be read in schools, and I am disappointed it is no longer in print or available in book shops. This is the type of book I feel should be available in light of the tragic drug problem we now seem to have. It gives a more realistic interpretation of what a drug addicts life is really like and how it isn't the glamourous life some think it is. Christiane is still fighting with her addiction now, so it is not an easy thing to escape. If you are interested there are web sites about Christiane, just use your search facilities.
Rating: Summary: christiane F Review: I purchased this book from the bookstore at the age of 14. I use to hide it from my parents because of the title. I once again found it in the attic of my parents place and re read it at the age of 35. It was still as shocking as the first time i read every page in anticipation. Drug addiction at its most tragic.

Rating: Summary: You will never stop thinking about this book Review: I read this book while I was living in Italy in the late 1990's. At the time I was very fluent in Italian and it was the first novel that I had read in Italian (titled Noi, I Ragazzi Dello Zoo di Berlino). It was especially resonating because Italy has its on problems with heroin, and I had two Italian friends who were severly addicted. Christiane's story gave me new insight into my friends' lives. I will never forget this book and I would like to read it again in English as well as see the film, It obviously translates well as it has been read by teens and adults all over Europe and trancends the time Christiane's story orinally took place. The paperback copy I read was actually printed for educational use in Italian schools. It should be required reading for all young adults and I plan to purchase a copy for my teenage sisters.
Rating: Summary: Tragic And Beautiful Review: Many, many years ago when i was around the same age as christiane. I like her and some many others were seduced by heroin. And eventually i ended up as an heroin addict, and lived a very similar lifestyle. Back then i also read her book for the first time, and was curious about it instead of scared. It pushed my futher towards heroin than anything else i had every read or watch. I just recently read it again and this time i saw the truthness in it, i saw every thing i didn`t see the first time. It was scary to read this time but also good. It`s a book everybody should read. It`s tragic how some children and adults live. I wanted to take her away but as everybody knows nobody can save you but you..Her story is tragic and beautiful..But it`s good to read..
Rating: Summary: First so truthfull book I read Review: This book shocked me when I read it for the first time. What is even worse, I got in temptation to try out Christiane's life. I was very curious about it and I wondered if it was truth. Now, when I read it for the second time I realized that this book is the most truthful one I read. I find it very interesting and painful and would also recomend it to everyone. I'm shore that they will share my opinion. Rating: Summary: Before I was Born Review: You hear how shocked people are by the extent of drug abuse in 'our day and age' and 'what the young people get up to', but here is a chilling and important book written, about the destruction of a child, before I was born. People need to know this stuff - and the reason 'H' is such an important book is because it is written from the inside out. No-one can understand who hasn't been there, and they shouldn't pretend to or try to. There is certainly no place for judgement. I was interested by Vicky790's comments that there are websites about Christiane which might tell us about her now, 20 years on, but all I can find are pictures of the film. Anyone got any tips?
