Rating: Summary: The Investigation Review: Although this is an interesting look at how French authorities conduct an investigation it is not conclusive.
Rating: Summary: Excellent - Well worth the read Review: I have always been fascinated by Princess Diana, so I had to read the book investigating her tragic death. The authors supplied background information on Princeess Diana and Mr. al-Fayed and provided extensive research regarding the accident. I had some questions before reading the book, and now I have many more. I am anxiously awaiting the publication of the reports regarding this untimely accident.
Rating: Summary: Death of a Princess: The Investigation by Thomas Sancton Review: I liked this book. Very interesting. I followed all the media news and just could not get enough to satisfy my curiosity until I read this book. I don't know why I have been so touched by her death? It is a mystery to me, also? I just liked her when she was alive and was shocked at hearing about her accident. I, too, ordered the tape of John Elton's song about her. I want to thank all the readers who gave their comments on this book, it helped me to buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Not Conclusive Review: Interesting facts about the papparazzi and the holiday leading up to the accident which killed Diana. The chapter reporting the engineer's finding is not only technical, but gives supporting proof of a collision with a Fiat prior to the deadly collision with the 13th pillar of the Alma Tunnel. This book gives a handful of theories to think about, but the only thing not convincing to me is the conspiracy theory that the Princess was going to wed Dodi. The ending is not conclusive.
Rating: Summary: This book was a TOTAL WAIST of time. Review: Sadly, this book is flawed. Many key witnesses have been excluded. The fact that they are never mentioned shows the depth of the conspiracy to bury the truth. Cover-ups require a lot of clean-up, starting with the witnesses with the most damaging testimony. They must be discredited or silenced to prevent them from repeating their stories. It does not take a genius to analyse the story and the surrounding facts and circumstances and come to the conclusion that the accident was premeditated. Why has the driver of the Fiat Uno and his car never been found, despite the biggest vehicle search in history of French police? Where is the motorcyclist who was seen to harass the Mercedes in the tunnel? Isn't the fact that both are in hiding suggest that they had a material role in the accident? The French scorned the offer from Mercedes Benz to investigate the accident site. The French also failed to properly preserve it, by opening it to traffic several hours later. The rejection of Mercedes Benz to help reconstruct and interpret the accident stands out as a red flag masking putative collusion and foul play. Diana's death eviscerated the steep problems which would have faced the royals and England/Israel had she in fact married Dodi, or worse, become pregnant during the marriage. Rating: Summary: Thorough reporting for its time Review: Sancton and Mac Leod did one hell of a job, considering the book was published but a few months after Diana and Dodi's deaths. They investigate the conspiracy theories that were floating around then and give evidence to either support or discredit them but they allow enough space for you to be the judge of whether the theory is based in fact or fiction. It was impossible for the book to have come to any kind of ending, conclusive or not, because at the time it was written, evidence was still being sorted out, arraignments were being made, and people were being interviewed. In short, everything was still a mess. I would highly recommend this book for its unbiased reporting and also for the minute by minute account of Diana and Dodi's last day alive.
Rating: Summary: Outdated look at Princess Diana's death Review: This book contains many factual mistakes, but since it was written over 2 years ago, before many facts were uncovered by the French investigation, I am not really penalizing it much for that. About half of the book consists of background information on Dodi and Diana. This part could have been much shorter. I don't need to know, nor do I care about, Dodi's favorite pets as a child. The actual part related to the investigation was an evenhanded treatment of the facts as they were known in 1998. To the authors' credit, they investigate the most wild theories in a fair manner. When information was not known or available, they plainly state so. Unfortunately, they hint darkly a few times in the book that a source (which they can't name) tells them there is 'something big' not known about the case. This shot down the authors' credibility.

Rating: Summary: The Investigation Continues... Review: Thomas Sancton and Scott MacLeod not only present a well researched and highly readable journey through the details and and facts of the death of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed that are known to date, but challenge their readers to explore the unanswered questions which keep reason for the accident a mystery. We have all speculated about whether the paparazi, the driver, or a second car was responsible for the tragedy but this book weaves the thread of their lives, loves, family, with the circumstances of their untimely death. I never thought I would have more questions about the accident after I read this book than before but I do. This may prove that the authors have done their job well to not only state the facts but describe the ongoing investigation. It is now our responsibility to demand further answers from those investigators. I enjoyed reading this book and would easily recommend that others do so as well.
Rating: Summary: The five stars are only for what the book proves Review: While this book was written too quickly after Diana's death and the authors didn't have a lot of the facts at their disposal, it proves one thing - that the deaths of Diana and Dodi were only an ACCIDENT! Come on people! Who is going to murder the Princess of Wales in one of the safest vehicles on the planet, and what secret agency in their right mind would use a CAR ACCIDENT to kill somebody? Let's be logical here - there ARE more efficient ways to commit murder!
