Rating: Summary: Good But Review: Donald Spoto has done a good job on writing about Marilyn Monroe's life. Better than some other 'out to make money authors'. His approach is both sensitive and honest. He doesn't make her a joke and she would have liked that at least. And he finally stops those stupid conspiracy theories which keep on circulating regarding MM and JFK and RFK....Marilyn from reading Spoto's book, appears as fragile, sweet, intelligent young woman who was simply also battling her own demons and was complex, sensitive and self-destructive. She was her own enemy and nobody else could have killed her.
Rating: Summary: The truth. Finally. Review: Donald Spoto must have done a lot of hard work to uncover all this information about Marilyn. In this extensive biography (the best I've read) we learn things that maybe we'd never heard about before. And, by interviewing people close to Marilyn such as Milton H. Greene and Inez Nelson (?), by reading papers from Marilyn to Lee/Paula Strasberg, Pat Newcomb, and others influential in her life, DS gives us further insight into the life of this beautiful but misunderstood immortal screen goddess. We also learn the truth about her death. No, Marilyn was not killed by the Kennedys. (Both Bobby and John had alibis, and the information DS presents show no reason why they would want to assassinate her anyway.) And from what DS says, Marilyn was planning to remarry Joe DiMaggio and to her friends it didn't seem that she was planning to kill herself. His hypothesis is that her suicide may have been accidental, after being fed all those barbituates by different people through all the years, and Dr. Ralph Greenson and her housekeeper, Eunice Murray, may have had a hand in it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned so much from it!

Rating: Summary: Finally, someone gets it right Review: I have read many Marilyn bios, and this is the only one that finally gets the details right, not only about her life, but also the sad truth about her death. Thank you for giving her the justice of piecing together what really happened.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Done by Donald Spoto Review: I really enjoyed reading this book! It was so hard to put it down once you got going. You really find out a lot about Marilyn's life that no one has ever talked or written about before. I've liked Marilyn since I was about 13 or 14 and now I'm 26. I've always been interested in her life and now I feel like I finally know what it was like. This book really covers everything, from birth to death. To really find out what happened to Marilyn, READ THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Bah-humbug,baloney, and not much to ballyhoo about! Review: Marilyn deserves respect and to rest in peace and this book frees her from the lies that have been said about her so often. The author provides letters, and answers to the most toughest questions, and never fails to back anything up. It is THE book for Marilyn's life and nothing can convince me otherwise. The last day of her life was a sad one filled with controlling people who were emotionally disturbed. I would definetely read it and see what you think.
Rating: Summary: A WELL EXECUTED MYTH BY A TYPIST WHO CLAIMS TO BE AN AUTHOR Review: spoto gives a lot of details on marilyn's life, but he is definitly hidding the truth about her death. This book was the first bio I read about marilyn, but since that time, I discovered others, better. As a great fan, I suggest " enquete sur un assassinat" by don wolfe. I dont know what's the title in english...its the continuation of the biography of anthony Summers. Two great books, and you can feel the last moments of the star, and understand the conspiracy, with official documents , autopsy reports...read it, you will beleive.
Rating: Summary: a chasm of inductive leaps Review: Spoto spends a lot of time drawing conclusions backed up by flimsy evidence and armchair psychology. It all comes off as a little too Freudian.

Rating: Summary: You will walk with Marilyn Review: This is the most in-depth look at Miss Monroe's life from birth to death. The times and dates that Mr. Spoto was able to resurrect will amaze you, I have never seen so much detail in a book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down much to my wife's dismay. You will actually get to know Norma Jean and Marilyn as well as anyone in her life, a great read!
