Rating: Summary: Interesting theories of past unresolved deaths Review: One must appreciate that Dr. Noguchi was at the forefront of forensic medicine around the time of this book, and in that respect he deserves accolades. In this, his second "coroner" book he assumes a consultant viewpoint of some famous and mysterious, unresolved deaths. Some of the more interesting ones are Elvis, the family members of Jeffrey McDonald, and even Jack the Ripper. It is interesting to see his viewpoints, although the novel at this point in time is becoming dated. Technology is rapidly evolving and resolving more and more questionable deaths. We have Mr. Noguchi to thank for promoting the field.

Rating: Summary: could have been much better - a little disappointing Review: This is not as good as Noguchi's other forensics book, Coroner. Coroner at Large is more speculative and kind of comes across as an ego trip for its author. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting material, but it's just not the first book you should turn to if you're into forensic science. Looks at "unsolved" or "mysterious" deaths like Elvis and Jack the Ripper. There's been a bunch of stuff written on the Ripper since this book, so it's certainly not the best place to turn if you want to explore the Ripper killings. Nothing about this book really stands out; Coroner and Unnatural Death by Baden are much better books about forensic pathology.
