Rating: Summary: A work of fiction pretending to be a biography Review: Anyone who has taken the time to study the life of George Reeves will quickly recognize that this book is chock full of blatant lies and unsupported quotes from mysterious "unnamed sources". The sad part is that many people who know little of the life of Reeves will be sorely misled. A further tragedy is that ABC had the lack of ethics to interview these people and did not challenge them on even one of their many absurd unnamed sources. It is clear that these people wanted to write a pulp fiction genre novel with greedy hopes of selling it for a movie and could not get any takers, so using a weak dime-novel style, they fictionalized the life of a man who spread a lot of cheer in the world and simply made up totally unsupported lies to make it appear dirty and sordid. In blissful ignorance, they exposed their lack of sincerity by making erroneous remarks about the Superman TV series that show they actually knew little about the series of which they professed to be "big fans". I'm sorry I wasted my time and money on this rot.
Rating: Summary: Hollywood Kraptonite is more like it--- says Jimmy Olsen! Review: I have taken a keen interest in the life and death of George Reeves, and have read quite a bit on the subject. These authors are spreading around alot of manure in the subtle hope that somethig beautiful will grow. When interviewed about the book Jack Larson, who played cub reporter Jimmy Olsen in the series, actually referred to the tome as Hollywood Kraptonite. While the book does paint a vivid picture of Hollywood in the 1950's, the conclusions drawn simply are not supported by the evidence. The simple truth of the matter is no one will ever know what really happened the evening of June 16, 1959. The principals are all dead, and the evidence destroyed. If the reader takes that into account and treats the book as a fictional account of Reeves' death, it is a quick read.
Rating: Summary: SUPERMAN/GEORGE REEVES STILL LIVES IN OUR HEARTS!! Review: This book still leaves so many questions unanswered, George Reeves' death is still an open case. The police still have not solved this case, and it has been many years after George's death. There are still open questions, and which have not been really answered. The book just opens up more questions, that just seem to open up more interest in the man who not only thrilled but gave so much to us in our youth George Reeves! There has to be someone out there, who will write another great book where this one just leaves us hanging in real suspense. There are many who grew up with George Reeves, and who would really like to know "the real facts" behide what or who killed George Reeves. Was there a coverup? And by who? The Police? George's lover? Did George Reeves step on someone's toes, and they had him killed? There are alot of fans, who would like to know what really happened to this great actor...please find the killer of our hero--Superman/aka/George Reeves!
Rating: Summary: Hollywood Kraptonite is more like it--- says Jimmy Olsen! Review: This book was a very exciting read in which I am sure will be made into a movie one day. For me, it made me a little sadder about the man who was my hero and who I tried to figuratively become. Two years ago I did a story in my television series MYSTERIES, MAGIC, AND MIRACLES for the Sci-Fi Channel on the mysterious death of George Reeves. I only wish I knew of this angle before I did the story. Now, I am more interested in the life of George Reeves and the positive influence he had on many of us growing up. Perhaps, one day, the world will celebrate his life, rather than immortalize his death. Jack Larson, if you're reading this, I would love to talk to you about the greatness of this man.

Rating: Summary: A ripping good yarn! Review: Unlike the fruitcakes with "vested" interests who have "reviewed" this book before me, I'm just a mystery and biography lover. And let me tell you, this book satisfies both genres in spades! With descriptions of Reeves and his environs and his creepy circle of friends, you can practically smell the vodka on his guests' breath, the decay of his ripped worsted-wool Superman suit, the gardenia perfume of his evil girlfriend wafting in his bedroom after his bullet-riddled body has been removed! Absolutely gripping!
Rating: Summary: A ripping good yarn! Review: What is that smell? It reminds me of spoiled tripe stew! Oh! I'm sorry! It's the aroma of "Hollywood Kryptonite" Don't bother! Run like heck! George Reeves should haunt these guys!
