Rating: Summary: A Simply Wonderful Book About Love & Baseball Review: If you're a Mets fan who remembers the 1986 season (and what Mets fan doesn't? It was glorious), you'll have a special place in your heart for DIAMONDS FOR LORI AND ME. This story is as much about Lori's burgeoning love for and delight in the '86 Mets as it is about her father's love for her. Told with great humor and not a little sentimentality, this book reminds us that baseball's greatest quality is its ability to bind people together in happy and loving memories. I can't recommend it enough. The first time I read it, I laughed; the second time, I cried. By the third reading, I was passing it out to everyone I know. I suspect you'll do the same. It's nothing short of enchanting -- to anyone who's ever had a daughter, or been a daughter, or been a father who dreamed sports dreams for his children. It's a keeper of a book. Thank you, Mr. Schoenstein, for your lovely memoir -- and for the author photo, a charming shot of the young Ralph with no less than the great Yankee Clipper, Joe DiMaggio. Ah, them was the days!
