Rating: Summary: Wonderful book about one of Blessed Padre Pio's most devoted Review: Mary Pyle was an American. She came from a wealthy family, and first trained in the Montessori method of education. She spoke five languages fluently. She went to San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy), met Blessed Padre Pio the saintly friar, and ended up converting to Catholicism (for which she was disinherited by her mother !) and building a small house on the hill and spending her life there !Guests were always welcome and the little pink house was always full of visitors, from royalty to movie stars, to regular working people. Mary Pyle joined the Third Order Franciscans, and wore their habit from that point onward. She saw to correspondence to and from Blessed Padre Pio's spiritual children, charitably housed and fed pilgrims who came to see Padre Pio and attend his Mass and go to confession in the friary; (telling them of Padre Pio's goodness) and was a faithful Catholic and spiritual daughter to Padre Pio her entire life. The book is full of sweet stories about her gentle, good nature. This book is full of anecdotes (and wonderful photos of her, Padre Pio -- today an official saint -- and other pertinent people discussed in the book) and history about Mary Pyle and also about Padre Pio, since her life was devoted to being helpful to him and the pilgrims who came to see him. Of a forgiving heart, she was charitable to all. This book is very edifying and a good example of how to live one's life for charity and love for fellow man. Mary Pyle, such a sweet soul is evident in these pages. And new stories I hadn't yet heard of pilgrims' visits with Padre Pio ! I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in Padre Pio's story, or simply in living a compassionate life.
