Summary: He's a Pig!
Review: ...only because compared to his first disastrous attempt when he teamed up with Anna for 'Princess in Love', at least he had the courage to write this himself and give us what he considers to be the true side of his story. The man deserves to be heard considering the slanderous way the press has been treating him so I read the book and I have to say, I did enjoy it. I knew nothing about his military career or Diana sending him packages to the Gulf. I think the book is well written and informative. If James wrote this book for the money then shame on him for being a lowlife BUT, if he wrote this to set the record straight as he claims then I don't see anything wrong with it. Freedom of the press! How about freedom of the public! Let's not forget that Diana DID ask him to burn the letters too so he's not such a wonderful guy considering he blatantly ignored her requests. I'm giving him the benefit of a doubt though.

Summary: Hewitt Is A Certified Liar
Review:

...Remember, the Princess herself said in her famous Panorama interview that much of the claims made in Hewitt's first book was false 'fantasy' that 'came from another world' and 'didn't equate to what happened'. Keeping this in mind, one must know that this book is nothing other than a piece of [garbage] in the lowest form. As the late Princess is not here to refute or acknowledge the hideous claims made in this book, we must realize that we will never know the truth. This book, as the...slew of others that have come out recently in the years following the Princess' death, is based on nothing save hurting claims and unproven accounts. Nothing in this book or any of the others can be absolutely and definitely proven...

Summary: Compelling and honest!
Review: I must admit, when i first learned the Mr.Hewitt was writing a book about Diana i thought that it would be trash just like most of the other "Diana" books. I bought this book on the 29th of October and just finished it today. I was touched by his honesty and true heart felt affection for Diana. I no longer doubt his love for the late princess. AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!

Summary: Much ado about nothing
Review: Just another cheap ode to a pair of dim-witted narcissists. Hewitt spends half of the boring book glorifying his Gulf War escapades and lamenting the loss of his military career out of admitted stupidity. Yet again, Diana was shown to be a scheming egomaniac with the morals of an alley cat. She should be left to rest in peace. Enough of the mindless adulation.

Summary: A Waste of time for fans of Princess Diana
Review: Prior to my reading this book, I'd never been a Diana Admirer. Having read much of the literature on Diana and consumed the daily tabloid stories about her, this book is the only, so far, that gives a better comprehensive insight into Diana's Character and the magnitude of her problems. For once, I could feel her wit. While feeling sorry for LJH, he should be glad, he had such memorable times with her, and his willingness to share them with us. I enjoyed the Love story, though not particularly sure about the war bit, apart from when, it heightened the tension in the romance. Thank you James once more! This book will forever change the way some of us perceived Diana.

As for Piers Morgan and the Tabloid crew in Fleet street, you should all be ashamed of yourself, won't you? Just wondering, who 'll be your next catch?

Summary: Reputation not rehabilitated
Review: The purpose of this book is to rehabilitate Mr. Hewitt's image and he doesn't succeed. From the irrelevant title to the declarations of love seemingly thrown in at random, this book is completely disingenuous.

The first half of the book tries to paint Hewitt as a perfect soldier. The details of his army exploits were extremely boring and his crowning achievement seems to be a small newspaper mention of his bravery during the Gulf War. This part of the book ends when he leaves the army after receiving two rebukes from his superior officer for leaving base without permission and having expired tags on his vehicle. He claims to have been drummed out of the service, which may in fact be true, but he also minimizes these violations.

The second half of the book is a pity party for himself because letters from Diana were stolen from his home safe, apparently by the Mirror newspaper. I find little sympathy for him considering Diana asked him to destroy the letters, a fact he himself mentions several times.

Summary: Hewitt in Love
Review: This book gives valuable, historical insight into the actual personality of Diana, Princess of Wales and her extra-marital relationship with James Hewitt. It clearly shows that, although needy, she was far from the hysterical borderline personality that so-called "royal experts" such as Penny Junor have tried to portray her as being. And forget that dreadful Princess in Love book: The real story of Diana and James Hewitt is here, without flowery embellishment. Diana is shown to be witty, flawed, complex, warm, and delightful. Hewitt readily admits both his idiocies and accomplishments in turn. His honesty gains sympathy as he progressively becomes a victim of a hopeless (and treasonous) relationship; his own mistakes; the tabloid press; and finally the British establishment. I received this book as a gift. Before reading it, I expected it to reinforce my previous view of "James Hewitt is a worthless cad." Instead, James Hewitt's formerly inscrutable decisions and actions now make a great deal of sense. I have increased respect and sympathy for him and for the Princess of Wales, both of whom were trapped in an impossible situation with no future but nevertheless, to paraphrase Dylan Thomas, sang in their chains like the sea.

Summary: Much ado about nothing
Review: This book left me feeling broken. I feel for both Diana and for James Hewitt. I don't doubt that they were in love and I think they would have had a good life together, but they both should have known better than to get involved in such a hopeless situtaton. Diana knew her marriage was over long before the divorce, she put up with a lot, but she was still a married woman with two children to raise who will have good morals. How must they feel to know both of their parents were untrue to each other.

What Anna Feretti did was unforgivable. No matter how hurt she may have been over the pictures of Hewitt and a lady, she had no right to steal Diana's letter from him and give them to the Mirror. What was she thinking. The greatest ones to suffer from this insensitive act would be the children, the only innocents left in the royal family.

Hewitt fought long and hard to get those letters back and I know they mean a great deal to him and he likes to read them over for comfort, but they need to be buried along with Diana. He will always have her in his heart and that way he can be assured no one else will ever see them.

I wish him a happy life. Diana was a shining star and the skys are so much darker without her light surrounding us. But I know that up there in heaven she has found her peace at last and happiness that will last forever. She was a true gift from God.
