Rating: Summary: An quick but detailed journey through the Holly legend. Review: I loved the coverage of what's been happening to the Holly legend since his death in 1959. All the quotes, especially those from the English bands, are invaluable. The letter from John Lennon to the author, dated 1974 and copied in the book, in which Lennon talks about Holly's effect on the Beatles, is worth the book's price alone.
Rating: Summary: Buddy Holly's life story through quotations Review: This book goes through the life of Buddy Holly via a series of quotations by friends, relatives, acquaintances and others whose lives and careers he touched. As a quick overview of his life, those with little knowledge of Buddy Holly's life and career should find this book interesting. How he influenced John Lennon of the Beatles is fascinating to read in Lennon's own words. For those more knowlegable of the Buddy's life, this is a fascinating read. Although I knew most of the facts of his life, I found it interesting to read of his life through the words of those who were influenced by him. The British Invasion of the early 1960's was precipitated by Buddy Holly and the Crickets' tour of England. This is an enjoyable, interesting and easy to read book. I recommend it to all Buddy Holly fans.
