Review: I have been searching for a book like this for a long time and came across it while doing some research on the area I grew up in- Sunnyvale. Ms. Jacobson did a splendid job on this book; not only is it well researched, and informative; the personal stories shine through. And the photographs are great. For anyone that has seen such dramatic changes to the place of their youth, this is a book to read. I also recommend this book to people who are more recent to the Santa Clara (now Silicon) Valley and those of us who actually experienced the great changes that occured there in the last century.

It is really a tragedy that we are covering so much prime agricultural land up with concrete buildings and this book illustrates that story without being critical or bitter.
