Rating: Summary: From the Heart Review: Mary Lally has taken a journal, a private letter to her late mother, and opened it up to the world in Dear Elizabeth. In it she gives voice to feelings that, in the interest of family harmony, often remain unspoken and certainly unpublished. She took a sure step toward destroying a fragile harmony, but has obviously written from the heart. Mary's personal journey with her mother in her final days is compelling, and depicts a fitting conclusion to a tumultous, life long relationship.Anyone who has lived, loved, struggled and lost a parent and more, will relate and appreciate. Dear Elizabeth is a quick read that you'll wish was longer.
Rating: Summary: A pure and honest read Review: This was an absolutely amazing book. Told with little fanfare and straight from the heart, Dear Elizabeth will teach you to look at life with more than a critical, cynical eye. Mary went through a gamut of emotions, including the slow loss of a parent, the isolation from most of her family and the feelings she experienced from being pushed away. She triumphs in bringing to light an old story of lack of compassion and understanding. To know her struggle with coming to terms with the loss of her mother, the loss of her family and the strength to continue on a journey to celebrate her mother's life......it borders on being honored. Dear Elizabeth is story that will stay with you for a long time....and one you will remember later in life. Bravo to you!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Bravo bravo bravo Review: Was unable to put this book down. A compelling story of a daughters love, a mother?s struggle for her dignity as cancer ravages her body. An Irish Catholic family torn apart, some blinded by their selfishness, greed and inability to recognize what they have in each other. The author speaks from her heart with honesty, humility, anguish and great humor as she reunites her love for her mother during her mother?s final months. Be prepared to laugh and cry. An inspirational story, especially for those who have experienced the hardships encountered during a long-term illness and death of a loved one. This book truly speaks to the essence of your soul. Bravo
Rating: Summary: A Gift of Love Review: What a wonderful gift to her mom and to all those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. To all those who were blessed to have had such an unconditional love and respect for someone and to have been loved unconditionally. You can feel the love and admiration Mary had for her mom. I cried, I laughed, I smiled and I felt as if I was there. It is a conversation that we would all love to have with those we have lossed. Thank You, Mary, for sharing your story. Thank You for bringing a smile to my heart.
