Rating: Summary: FireHouse Down Review: A compelling story of the experiences of a volunteer firefighter and the many thoughts that occurred during the worst tradegy of our time. The author's story brings a realistic and personal depiction of what occurs through the trials and tribulations of persuing what an individual is called to, Helping Save others lives and lying down his life each and everytime he responds to a call for help. For those who are blasphemous and antagonistic when reviewing this book; look within yourself and make sure your not jeolous or trying to hurt another by spreading untruths! I am fully aware of this motivation because I too was at "Ground Zero"!
Rating: Summary: FireHouse Down Review: Firehouse Down is a blend of stark realism mixed with pure emotion. Anyone who wants to know what really happened during the Ground Zero rescue operations from a real firefighter should read this book. It is emotion filled along with some rather funny episodes that show what the volunteer fire service is really about. Some of the vivid details are frightening, as are the descriptive overtures about the fire service. I came away crying happy tears knowing there are people like Jonathan Wright putting their lives on the line to protect us all. A wonderful, elaborate book.
Rating: Summary: Damn good book!! Review: I am now more aware of what the men and women had to endure at ground zero. It was a well written account of the events that have shaped their lives as well as ours. This gives you a scary account of what really went on during hours and days after the attack. Being from a fireman's family, it is reassuring to know how that no matter what happens, you will be returned to your family. No one is left behind. Thank you Jon for writting such a wonderful inspiring book!

Rating: Summary: Vivid, honest and gripping account Review: I've read many books about 9/11, and I found Firehouse Down by Jonathon Wright to be one of the most honest and vivid depictions of life during and after that horrendous day for the rescue workers who followed the call of duty. The author comes from a long line of firefighters, which is true for many firefighters on the East Coast. If you want to know what life is truly like for the firefighters who responded to the tragedy at the World Trade Center, and what the surviving rescue workers are dealing with today, you will not want to miss this book. The author has an affecting and vivid style of writing, and he tells a powerful story. He presents the experiences of volunteer firefighters with honesty and humility, and he represents his fellow firefighters well. His style of blending stories about his past into accounts of present experiences is compelling, and makes for a fast and interesting read. I loved this book!
