Jung for Beginners (Writers and Readers Documentary Comic Book)

Review: I was suprised at the depth which could be reached in such a short volume. The illustrations are flippant and silly. Not overly light or impertinant. Enough for a first exposure to Jung and a taste to take the reader further if they feel a need to do so. Very worthwhile.

Review: It is rare when I can find nothing good to say about a book. This is one of those times. The writing style is primitive, the organization of contents non-existent, and technical information provided either trivial,misleading or wrong. The book is currently unavailable. I hope it stays that way. Speaking probabilistically,any source of information on Jung is likely to be more useful than this one.Similarly, anything else you could think of to do with your money would give you more pleasure than reading this book. The author has good credentials. Why he published this is an enigma.A true waste of trees.

Summary: Not the best Beginners Book
Review: Jon Platinia's book on Jung is a fair introduction. The presentation and organization of the book overall is somewhat confusing while the writing is dry and unexciting. I found myself skimming over some lines either because the writing was uninteresting, or the subject at hand. The life of Jung was interesting, but once it moved into the psychological works, it lost some of its steam. There are better Jung intro's available than this one.

Review: Note that there are two 'For Beginner's' series, one by Icon Books, and another (this one) from Readers and Writers. The Jung for Beginners by Icon Books is excellent, highly recommended. If you can find it...

Summary: Beautiful Exploration
Review: This comic book is a great introduction to Jung for young adults and adults alike. The drawings in this book immaculately illustrate Jung's theories giving the book a real cosmic flair. In this book, as with all Beginners Documentary Comics, you get a great mixture of biography and theory...Allowing the reader to not only explore the works of the person being examined, but also offering a peak into the mind/life experience of that individual. I highly recommend these comic books for educational purposes. They allow topics that may generally seem overwhelming to be viewed in short hand with the benefit of innovative art and wit.
