Review: Not quite as good as Beneath A Waning Moon (which is simply wonderful), and I can't quite put my finger on the reason why. Perhaps it's because Michael Bloch hadn't quite hit his stride as JL-M's editor, but it's still a fine book, anyway. JL-M even here is miles ahead of Fanny Partridge (a competant but naif and essentially bedint diarist), even in this volume. One really ought to buy all the Less-Milne Diaries and read them twice (or more), at least.
