Review: I couldn't put this book down! This story gripped me from the very beginning. I didn't know much about American civilians being held prisoners of war and although this only tells of one family, I learned a lot about what the conditions must have been like for the thousands who were trapped in the Far East when the war broke out. It is well-written and not only provided a personal story but I learned a lot about the history of the war at the same time. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in women's history and WWII.
