Summary: the hidden pledge between freud and his father
Review: If you think this is just another biography of Freud, you should just read it right away. In contrast to Masson's high-sounding attack on Freud for his cowardice in giving up the seduction theory, Krull stated that it was Freud's pledge to his father of not to investigate the problem of sexuality in general, and the familial sexual secret in particular, that Freud denounced his seduction theory. Krull wrote like a detective, drawing upon various sources, both historical and archival, to lead the read to certain inescapable conclusions. Many of the possible familial sexual scandals were explored in depth, especially for possible relationship between the young Amalia and Phillip. Krull forcefully refuted many of the myths propagated by Ernest Jones in his official biography of Freud. The meticulous and scholar research made this book unprecedented in the enterprise of Freud biography.
